Seeking advice for nutrients and what to test for

Hello fellow cultivators,

I’m new and wondering what I need to know about ppm, calmag and really any other general advice for newby grower concerning watering, nutrients and what to test for. I have a ph meter. I only have access to city tap water. I’ve been running my nutrients and water around 6.2 ph. I tested my runoff for first time last night with my digital ph meter and it was at 5.79. thanks on advance y’all are awesome.

What are you growing in,Coco?
Do you let your water gas off chlorine?

Organic soil and no I don’t always gas it off. That’s an awesome idea. That is specifically why I mentioned water because I was sure that the clorine wasn’t good for microbial growth. How long do I have to let the water sit?

Overnight, I have 60 liter drum and use air pump and airstone

I also have earthworm castings and a bunch of peat mixed in with the soil. About 3 parts soil to 1 part peat and castings

Amazing so just a little air pump for fish tank would work for my small operation?

Yes, you definitely don’t want chlorine in your water.

Thank you so much hashton you just vastly improved the quality of my grow. How does my soil sound? Do I need to test for more than just ph?

I think you want your Ph in to ideally to be 6.5 .
You have planted seeds already?

Is that your Ph meter in the soil there?
You need to get good quality Ph meter for your water {nutrients} and EC pen .

It does have ph but I use it mainly to make sure I’m not over watering

What is ec pen? I have digital ph meter

EC pen measures amount of salts {nutrients} .

Crap hmmm and I buffer it if needed with Epson salt?

You can get EC pen pretty cheap, mine was $30 Australian
Buffering ?
Depends if it is high or low then treat accordingly .
Have to go tend to my girl, her name is Buffy…Haha

Likewise, works quickly and works well. Also lets your tap water acclimatize to room temperatures
