Plant distance question

Hey guys this is my first batch as im super new to growing. See picture below of status as of today. Question is, is it important to keep pots further away from eachother (at least couple inches) or does it matter? Ive had all 16 5 gallon pots right next to eachother and although leaves are touching eachother, so far it seems not to bother growth but im not sure if it will cause issues. Any thoughts?.

I think if I don’t have the room I would keep my plants growing tall, never top my plans, rotate them always, make sure the humidity never gets to high, lots of airflow and light.

If I have the room I would make my canopy as big as possible and keep the plant short. I prefer this way.

That’s what I would do :grin::+1:

Yeah my temps are great so i feel what i have is fine. As far as the plant getting bigger id imagine humidity may rise due to the room being crowded but if my de humidifier keeps it under 70 rh still then i think itll be fine. Im more worried about leaves touching other leaves and if it would impact growth or even yeild aize during flower. But im guessing itll do its magic anyway? So far the crowded space is definitely bit slowing anything down as it is growing rapidly

The plants will compete for height a little when they start touching each other. Not a huge problem unless you’re in a really short space or let them go too long. Otherwise they’re fine.

Ok cool. My ceiling is pretty high so i dont think there is much to worry about. Thanks. Btw Just curious… have you ever grew chronic widow in 5 gallon pots? If so, how high did it grow? Im guessing the pot wont let it grow higher than 6 feet regardless.

Never grown chronic widow and I usually don’t use anything bigger than 3 gallon fabric indoors. Sorry!

No need to be sorry lol. Thanks for your input though was helpful.

Nice-looking healthy plants, as time goes on space will get tighter. I recommend keep a good air flow going.
Good luck

Thanks. The temps are really great but rh increases as they grow. Im thinking about getting a second dehumidifier.

Yeah everybody’s grows space is a little different in some way or another. Depending on the time of the year and the area you live in. We all make adjustments to try to stay in a favorable temperature and rh window.

Yeah im not sure how else rh would be high while temps are perfect except for the fact i have a lot of plants crowded in a small space. For now i guess its fine since im still in the veg stage for most of these plants but i ordered another dehumidifier anyway lol. Hopefully that gets rh lower.

Keep an eye on where your leaves touch and overlap each other. You will find that there’s a layer of water between the two overlapping leaves. Just conscious of mould getting a foot hold. I stick my arm between the pots and move it upwards between the plants, it moves the branches and leaves around and breaks contact between the two :sunglasses:

You may want ti grow fewer plants next time  I would consider stretch before they get too tall.

Good idea to test. I think to work through this that will help along with rotation

Yeah definitely. Lol. Beginner thought of nearly putting as much as i could in the closet lol. Hopefully i get through this

Rotated plants yesterday and did what you said and for maybe 2 pots had a tiny bit of water on one of the leaves that overlap. Just like you said. Thanks that was helpful. I thought maybe i couldve had like a SOG except with bigger pots, but this is a small grow area for this amount lol. Hopefully i get through this lol. Maybe ill change my light cycle to 12/12 once the Smaller plants reach the height of the taller plants so they dont get too tall. My ceilings are 9ft but if this plant grows to 6ft it may still be more difficult for airflow. From your experience, or anyone on here, anyone stopped height of a plant by changing the light cycle to 12/12? For example if the plant is 2 feet now, and i switch the light cycle now to 12/12, how tall will the stretch growth that occurs when it enters the flowering stage begin? Will it be an extra foot? Im sure this may vary on strain. I have chronic widow and i know they can grow up to 6 feet indoors

They generally increase in size when you flip to 12/12 not stop growing. My understanding is that they will grow by at least half as much again depending on whether they are sativa or indica dominant. A lot of growers here control their plants ultimate size by flipping early. @MrPeat grows monsters on a fixed 12/12 light schedule from start to finish. I’ve tagged him so he will pop over for a chat :sunglasses:

Indicas don’t get as big as a Sativa. A Sativa in my hands can clear 8 feet indoors…on 12/12 start to finish. My Indicas do hit 6 feet indoors. With proper lighting.

You do not want to over crowd a tent. Plants will literally kill another off. What I mean is the plant will be pretty limp. I had 4 Monsters growing at the same time. Three of them forced the 4th plant into the corner and it grew up on the side of my tent.

I was forced to pull it as it could not hold itself up. So I learned it does matter how many plants you can grow successfully when it comes to Monster and Super Monsters. Refer to my avatar. I can reach over 7 foot. To get the plant out of my 4x4 I had to top the top so I could get the damn thing out.

Since I don’t have a Veg Cycle and with say HLG’s, you need to stay on top of the plants. Especially Sativas. So see the opening paragraph I wrote.

I had to learn to also grow horizontal. Yes, you read that correctly. That is how big my plants get. Case in point.

Above photos was my one baby girl. Her main cola was wider than a Volleyball. The plant by itself…the upper right side is when the cola was small. This plant took up 16 sq feet by herself and she also grew 2 feet out of my tent. I don’t mess around when it comes to growing.

Also…I am an anomaly as well. So don’t expect to achieve monsters like mine till you have some grows under your belt. And you probably still won’t achieve what I do.

Excuse my noob questions. So at some point im going to switch to 12/12 schedule. So if itll double after switching, itll be a good idea to do so now correct? This is week 5 for the smaller plants you see in the pic. Also, do you think i should continue feeding nutes?

Oh wow thanks for your post. I guess at this point i feel a bit trapped. So if switching to 12/12 wont slow down growth, or help keep the plant under 4 feet, any ideas of what would be best to force the plant into flower and slow it down or help stop it from growing? Please excuse my noob questions. Im definitely learning a lot from this grow
