Spider Mites Question

I had 1 infestation of spider mites a few years ago when i grew some plants in soil. I dont think i had this problem when i grew in Bubble buckets. Another grower said that pests come up from the bottom. Could it be that the plants are in buckets of water that stopped the mites from being able to get to the plant? I am going to grow again this year and i don’t want another infestation of spiders.

On a side note could you grow Cilantro in the same tent Spider mites don’t like that plant to keep them away? also could you line the bottom of your tent with Diatomaceous Earth? to also keep the spiders out?
