WW Auto seeds pop and grow tails but don't establish roots?

Germed WW seeds and tailed nicely, planted in 3" rockwool (their final home). Put in a glass with R/O water and put in the windowsill. It’s been 6 days and nothing. The germed seed hasn’t grown above the rockwool, no roots. Plz help!

Just use moistened soil in a solo cup with a baggie over the top. Unless you’re doing hydroponics, then I don’t know.

Generally folks that have trouble with rockwool use too much water when planting sprouts in it. I soak my rockwool cubes in plain water then wring out most of it: it should just be damp. Sprouts go in and I place mine in a Solo cup with a clear dome Solo cup over it. Mist the dome twice a day, use a heat mat and keep light on it 24/0.

Also the windowsill is not a good place. The glass blocks the UV rays the plant needs. It should be under a light 24/0.

Too much water or not bothering to soak in a neutral/lightly acidic pH water to hydrate. Rockwool is so alkaline naturally, it sure does take a good soak in 5.8-6.5 water for seedlings to make their way along in life.

Good info! I’ve put the tailed seeds under a HLG 350R diablo full spectrum light 5" above the mesh pot/rockwool and on the 2nd of 10 intensity settings (60-330w). fyi the 1st setting doesn’t illuminate. Am I in the ballpark with the distance and intensity? Also on a 24/0 schedule
