So this is my first grow and I bit a little more then I can chew with 7 plants in an indoor tent set up in my barn I ran into a plethora of issues from caterpillars to temp regulation and humidity problems. I also sexed my plants correctly but must of missed a herm because there are seeds. But I’ve made it to harvest and I’m currently drying and I’ve been treating some persistent WPM with lost coast spray which keeps it at bay but it regenerates quite quickly. Temp is 65° and humidity hovers around 36%-45% I have a tower fan blowing constantly underneath drying branches. Should I keep trying to treat the WPM or give them a deep bathe of treatment?
May help to wash in a 5% peroxide 95% water solution. It should kill any WPM and wash it off.
I don’t wash my buds yet I’m planning an experiment when this grow finishes. I have been reading about it quite a bit and everything I have read says to wash right away after harvest, but I have never questioned why so I don’t know if it’s a bad thing to wash days after harvest. @Aquaponic_Dumme is a long time bud washing guy maybe he can answer this before you try
I have been washing my buds for years after harvests now. Def doesnt hurt and ull never not do it after getting the gunk off of them (even indoors, i dont grow outside, but its amazing how much dirt clings)
Couple gallons of water, a few caps of h2o2, and a few drops of lemon juice.
Another clean couple gallons.
And a good fan.
Dip plants in the first solution, shake gently for 20-30 seconds. Pull and dip in second barrel (pure water), shake gently. Then hang to drip/fan dry immediately after.
@Covertgrower @Myfriendis410 got me on it. Any other tips guys
When I started washing my flower I was shocked about how much junk got washed off. I’m a believer.
Like the others, I wash my buds after chopping (indoor only for me). I would not recommend rinsing the buds after the drying process has started, it seems like a recipe for mold to me.
Thoughts @PurpNGold74 @Myfriendis410 @Covertgrower @Holmes @dbrn32 ?
@PurpNGold74 the question isn’t is it good to wash em. @Kingdavid83 has been drying already and has been spraying them to stop the wpm and now wants to wash them. Is it ok?
I harvested a gdp plant, had it drying for two days, saw white growth on two colas, chopped them off and discarded, re washed the rest and then back into dry tent. Worked out fine.
Ahhh good eye… ive never washd not fresh cut buds… so no help there… sorry
Can you post some photos of what you believe is WPM?
Works the same. I chop, wash, then trim, then hang to dry, repeat.
Thanks everyone really appreciate all feedback I’m gonna wash just to be safe with H2O & H2o2 and hope for best it’s a mild case at this point but rather be safe
Yes once I get a chance for sure
These are some of the WPM buds its just way more powdery then rest of the buds with some splotches on leaves
I’m not an expert, but if it were me I’d consider that a total loss. Perhaps a solvent-based extraction in a laboratory could effectively filter out the sporulation from the cannabinoids, but I’m going to guess you don’t have a lab to do the extraction or follow up testing.
Looks like bud rot to me. Not WPM. Toss any affected buds.
@GFDuke I was thinking the same but didn’t want to be the first to drop it on him especially the very first pic it’s possible that it’s both
Damn that’s really sad but as a last ditch effort maybe futile I peroxide bathed them gonna dry then bottle separately from others if it even remotely shows signs it’s garbage
