Wills 1000w CREE COB LED light- Anyone have experience with this light?

Damn so the 3000 is better than the 4000? What is the difference exactly?

Basically. The lower the number. The better for flower. And the higher number is better for veg. more blue light in a 5500k vs a 2700k. the 2700 has more red. The 3500 is a good balance of the 2. My 260 lights are 3500 and my 320 is a 2700k

One 2x288QB with a four 4x35w cobs and 10 far red osrams both DIY in a 4x4 2.5 weeks into flower

The QB’s work pretty good.

It’s the ratio between blue and red wavelengths. The 4000k 80cri is little better veg spectrum.

It will still grow weed though. If you want to try and see how you do, you can always add some 660nm strips and small driver later if you want.

Lmao Every time I think I’ve figured one thing out I realize there’s 5 more things I need to learn. You guys are amazing though! Couldn’t do it without everyone in this forum!!

I’m another blurple & COBB victim. I have 2 tents and I got a HLG 260xl and it’s amazing. I am running the full cycle with both tents with the same strain, so we will clearly see the difference between the two. In the future, I plan on vegging with the blurple/cobb, and flowering with the HLG.

Also, don’t get discouraged about having to build the light. It took me about 45 minutes to put it together, but would have only taken 20 if I had any electrical experience.

Check out my grow journal if you want to follow along and see the difference.

FWIW, cob’s can be really good. Cob stands for chip on board, its basically a description of how the module is designed. Like every other type of led module, there are good and not very good at all. To diy a nice cob light you would be looking at about $1 per watt to start, pushing $2 per watt for cool running light with really good coverage. Something like the kits from rapid led or timber grow lights, really not a huge gap in performance. But once again, you’re not getting them cheap either.

Well I thought I finally got a hold of one of those hlg 260xl but just got an email today saying they’re out of stock. Apparently everyone and their mother are buying those bad boys. It’s the third site to be totally out of them :droplet:

Bummer to hear that. I bought a 260 from them just last week. I ordered directly from HLG because I’ve heard nothing but great things about their customer service. I see they’re sold out now.

Did you check out RapidLED? If you’re in a hurry, they have great stuff too.

Strange times we live in. HLG is sold out of everything it seems. And I went to buy a chest freezer for my MIL, and wouldn’t you know the whole country is sold out of chest freezers. Chest freezers, who’d of thought

@NeoGroR well I guess I’m not in any real hurry. I do need to send this blurple POS back by May 31st. My first two seedlings look like they’re not going to make it. I have some FFHF soil otw along with some Myko, some PH up and down and a PH testing probe. I have four new seeds sprouting right now. I’m trying to wait for that soil to arrive before i sticck those sprouts in the soil I used the first time. I also made the mistake of doing the small plant in a large pot for those first two little ones. Not doing that again lol

Simple truth there my friend

Would you guys say this compares very closely to the hlg 260? The price difference makes me nervous. I’ve learned by now it usually means to just spend the extra for the real deal but just thought I might ask.

Well they certainly want you to think so, Chinese stuff is cheaper than HLG, is it as good, would not count on it.

@Hellraiser I had a feeling. Just going to have to wait til they build more of those hlg’s dang it lol. No one has them it seems. Too scared to order from eBay or any of those types

I’m very impressed with my new HLG 550 v2 rspec, the build quality is impeccable. HLG costs more because:

  1. HLG is a USA company
  2. HLG uses top bin diodes
  3. HLG stands behind their lights, 3 year warranty
  4. I would expect a much better level of service from HLG than some ebay guy
  5. Other stuff too stoned to think of at the moment

Just got one ordered straight from hlg!!! I changed one of the options to “assembled v2 R spec” and it was available. Nearly shit myself when I noticed that changing that option made one available seeing as the whole world was out of stock. I’m guessing that just means that a portion of it comes already assembled for an extra $25. Anyhow, just got way too excited

Sweet! I just bought an assembled kit QB135 rspec yesterday to play with as well.

Does it mean the whole kit is assembled?

Yes, I would assume so. I put together a QB135 bspec on monday that was a kit, was a piece of cake, had it together and lit in 15 minutes flat, was easy.
