I planted these autos May 8th they both have similar specifications as to when they should be done and growing conditions. The bigger one is the gelato cookie by Royal queen seeds and the smaller is the Bruce banner. The cookie is just getting bigger and bigger and not really flowering much. The cookie responded to LST better with its long spaces between nodes and the Bruce banner was short and stacked. Is it possible for LST to cause it to take weeks longer then projected?
I doubt the LST had anything to do with that. Autos can be “quirky” sometimes. We have seen them get huge and go many weeks before flowering and also seen them flower at 1 inch tall. Sometimes they act like photos and require 12/12 light cycle.
They just do their own thing.
*The breeder’s estimates are mainly a sales pitch and can vary wildly.
Never done autos. I know my brothers last batch was right about 100 days.
Note that these breeder estimates are time in flower and not time from seed. The clock starts when you see pistils appearing at the tips of the plant.
I’m guessing I’m just going to let it do its thing at this point. I know I will have to harvest at different times. I was just curious if I should be worried I could be harvesting some pop corn buds.
I’ve never had a single autoflower that was fully ripened and ready to cut down within the breeders advertised timeline, and I’m an auto lover.
Some breeders are advertising flowering time, some clearly say “seed to harvest time”, and some don’t make a distinction. Either way, I plan on a full 14 to 15 weeks now for all my autos. Occasionally I’ll have one here or there that’s ready in 13 weeks, but not many.
I think the size of the plants matter. Quite often the biggest autos with the best yields take the longest to finish, so at least it makes the wait worthwhile!
I have 2 Girl Scout Cookie autos over 4ft tall. Im suprised how big they got.
I have 1 that’s HUGE! My first seed never popped so I germinated another 1 and it’s very tall. My first ever grow with the auto super mix and I’m pretty proud of myself. Just will need tips on when to trim. My fan leaves are turning yellow and I’m on starting week 10.
Im having the same issue right now. Also my first grow with autos
Ya’ll keep in mind… auto’s have only been around for barely 20 years. There was some fiddling with breeding back in the 70’s or so, but it never went anywhere.
I gotta believe that “stable genetics” in autos is still a tad elusive.
Breeders estimates are SOMETIMES accurate and mostly based on the fastest times the breeders see from their phenotypes…
Autos are not predictable and they rarely start flowering at the same time or even grow at the same rate as their sisters… it’s just how autos are.
You might get one that’s ready in 9 weeks and you’ll probably get one that needs to run 14.
