I’m growing my first autoflower seeds. One white skunk, which is growing great I believe, and a White Widow. They’re both finishing week 9 I believe.
As I don’t have much of the gear you guys usually use to grow, I Just went for it with what I got. So, the soil is basically from the local market and is a mix between thin, more compact soil with another richer in organic matter and looser. I didn’t use shop nutrients as well. Did use coffe grounds (N), egg shells (Ca), banana peels (P,K) and lettuce leftovers for other micronutrients mixed with water, being aware of the needs during different stages. The Lightning is from the sun, as I have a big window facing south.
Also, don’t have the ph and humidity gear so I’m not aware of the levels. Living on semi-tropical Islândia I belive humidity wasn’t a problem.
So, the question is basically hoje long do you think I should keep the ww in the soil? Do the plants present any problem to you.
I thank any Feedback.
Great grows for you all.
Welcome to the community. I must say that your plant looks very nice indeed. I grow photo’s so not much help there. It is very interesting what you use for nutes. As for lighting the sun is like growing outdoors. happy growing.
Welcome to the neighborhood. Nice lookin plants you have there.
Your approach to soil management is clever and smart. I can dig it. (Pun intended)
Thanks for the feedback! Well, me and girlfriend are really into recycling and reusing stuff and decided to take it into growing some smoke that way. It’s harder to get accurate values of nutes and all of that but I believe that with time we can master this method.
Appreciate it Philly! Try it out! Cheap way to grow, great for the environment.
Welcome to the community!
Well it looks good for how you’re doing them for sure. I have grow a few autos and yours seems exactly where I would expect it to be without any form of training applied. Good Job! I am kind of confused as to what exactly you’re asking here. 1)Are you talking about transplanting to other soil? I wouldn’t recommend that at this points with pistils on it as it will stress the auto and while seriously reduce yield. 2) are you asking how long they take to finish? If the seed supplier says 9 weeks you need to take into account 2 weeks seeding stage/3-5 weeks for vegging depending on the strain and finally the 9 weeks for flower to finish. Most I’ve seen or read finish 90 days from seed all the way up to 120 days from seed if its a XXL auto strain. Just make sure to drop the nitrogen and up the PK for flowering using your methods. Hope this helps. @Hellraiser may have some knowledge on these Autos as well. Happy growing.
Honestly look amazing. Nice lush leaves full of color. Happily soaking up the rays. In direct sunlight the sun tosses down about 100k PAR so plants require about 6 hours to reach their DLI. I can dig you’re approach as well having grandparents who did this very thing for 45 years in their garden. All organic allthe time. Best food I ever ate.
Thanks for welcoming and for the great feedback on the plants. The question way actually about how long should I keep it on the soil, not transplanting. Well it’s from sensi seeds, white label seed. From what I’ve seen on their website the all life-cycle takes 75 days, which is moreless 10,5 weeks… Yesterday I noticed the leafs are starting to become yellow on the edges… Well 1 more week on soil for sure then… I try to balance the mix so it’s less N, but it’s never certain…
Thanks for all the info!
Hahaha here at my place we actually also began in the garden which started giving us quite a few delicious veggies. As I searched for the needs of cannabis plants, we started adapting the leftovers of our kitchen, to fit them the best. Thank you for all the kindness!
This my auto at 6 weeks, you need to add some P and K nutrients if you want decent buds, your plant looks healthy but the organics your adding won’t be of any use until they are broken down by microbes first, ie: composted, I use organic slow release granules for the phosphorous and potassium, just sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of each on top of your potting mix.
If you have a home depot or lowes locally you can buy something called “Alaska Morbloom”. It’s organic fish based acidic food. Gives you 0-10-10 on the NPK scale. I used it with my recent organic based grow mainly to drop pH from whenever I used tap water I used the morbloom instead of pHdown.
Welcome. It is an amazing community.
Older leaves will begin to yellow; some growers remove them others let them provide all they have till they fall off.
As the buds develop and grow, keep an eye on the new growth, that is your indication of the needs or issues. Keep in mind that when you see an issue, it has been developing for some time before the visual appeared.
I’m curious… do you put them outside to get light or indoors in front of the window? If the latter, you might see some effects from lack of compete spectrum as the windows block out certain wavelengths.
That said, plants look healthy.
Best of luck moving forward.
I should have mentioned your plant shows signs of over watering, slightly drooping leaves and white on the tips of the leaves, apart from the organic P and K I mentioned earlier, get some cow manure and put about 1 inch on top of your potting mix, they will love it, and it is a good idea to let the soil almost dry out a little between watering, those roots need oxygen, and the biggest cause of plant problems is over loving them, it’s also true that another member posted the glass does block some light spectrum’s, better if you can put them outside if possible. My current grow is on a boat which keeps swinging around with the tide and winds, daylight hours here will be 12/12 in a couple of weeks. Pain the ass having to keep moving them for max sunlight, but still they are going OK.
Considering you’re not using lights or phing your water they’re doing absolutely stunningly well if your in the states look into getting the xtreme gardening sample pack for the mykos to add to your next grow otherwise keep it up and I agree with the one guy about adding a little phosphorus supplement this late and you can add 1/2-1 Tablespoons molasses and 1/2-1 teaspoon epsom salt to your water to give a little extra cal mag and potassium since flowering can need a lot of that as well
Thanks for the advice. The sources of nutrients I’m using are already ready for the plant to use. I’m not using foodscraps just by putting them on the soil, I treat them with heat (to breakdown the plant cells and release the P and K and other minerals in the water), or make powder with the eggshells. The coffe grounds are very rich in N, so if you just put them in the water, part of the N will “dissolve”. I’m sticking with reusing organic material, but also try to follow your advice and increase P and K quantities.
Thanks again and a happy grow!
I’m not in the states… living in an island so basically can’t find anything made for growing cannabis… but thanks for the advice anyway
Hi there PP,
Thanks for the tips, I’all keep an eye on those. The leaves are already starting to get yellow (beginning on the tips and going into the stem direction). They stay inside but with the window opened so it doesn’t block the sun. As it is a large window the can get direct sun at least from 8.30am to 16pm… best Ivan do in my spot.
Thanks again for your feedback!
Some of the leaves have brown tips since very young, I think it may burned with too much Nitrogen on a early stage, because I always let the soil dry between waterings. I’ve read somewhere giving too much N could burn the tips and curl them a bit which was the case. One of the pots has small breaches all over and I believe that one works better for O2 in the roots and guetting healthier soil. The thing with the sun, I believe it’s not a problem because I keep the windows opened almost from sunrise to sunset. Can’t take them outside because I have neighbours too close.
I’m a sailor haha Would love to try growing on a boat! But it seems a challenge!
Hope your plants grow perfectly with all that sun available.
Thanks for the feedback GreenSnek!
I don’t have much places to get those hints but I will try to give them more P,K,Ca and Mg.
Looking good, I’d say you have about 3 to 4 weeks to go before harvest.
