when the stems off leaves and branches go red is it a disease the red is on the upside mainly ?
Whole plant and leaf/stem pics?
It depends. It happens naturally to some strains.
Strain name, pictures, and feeding information will help a lot.
I have grown several strains that get red stems in late veg/flower stages. Cooler temps during the dark cycle can cause colors to pop as well, on buds and leaves. But… as they said, it’s hard to diagnose without more info. If you are referring to just the leaf stems, (usually the stems of fan leaves near the top) that is quite common and likely NOT disease. It seems to be a reaction to intense light, but not necessarily too much light… That’s why it’s most prominent on the top of the stem and on fan leaves getting lots of light. How’s the plant looking otherwise? If you don’t have damage on the leaves (like nute burn or curled ends) and growth is normal, you’re probably just fine. At least that has been my experience.
Gosh I wish I could find a link I posted earlier about this issue.
It can be lots of things, or just genetics. Phosphorus and Magnesium deficiencys cause it so does too strong of a light. Often outdoors in the late cool season the stems will turn red or purple.
I would check my ppms first, then research my strain for genetic red stems and the power of my light
Great, could be several things is why I asked for several pics. Genetics, stress, temp fluctuations, nutrient deficiency caused by incorrect PH etc… I get red stems every grow and have not had issues. I particularly notice this when I top feed Recharge and Mykos. They replenish your beneficial microbes, fungi, humid acid and amino acids. Important to replenish these after the 1st month with a weekly feeding
