Should I go off of 12/12 light switch or 10 days after light switch ? I’ve heard different opinions from others, but not to sure when to actually start the countdown. Any help appreciated
It’s 50/50 what people do. I have found that you get closer to what the breeder estimates by starting the count when you have quite a few pistils started.
Ok that’s cool was kind of worried for a second cause my girls still have a good majority of white pistils and if I went by when I started the light switch of 12/12 they would of been at 8 weeks going on 9
I count day 1 flowering when the tops start to look like buttons, if that makes sense.
I agree, budlets is when I start counting
Yeah, you got a ways to go for sure.
Ok that’s what I was going by, one of the hydroponic store owners told me that I should always count as soon as the light switch, and then I went to another store and he was telling me it takes some time to transition from the 12/12 switch
I dont do photos but even with autoflower the transition time is a week or more. Try not to get too hung up on what week she is in of what stage, just start looking at trichomes when all the red hair begins to lay down and you wont miss your harvest window. Its ok to be a week off one way or the other.
It doesn’t really matter that much the most important thing is to check trichomes for maturity cause thats when you harvest not a day.
Now when you do that your not looking at the sugar leaves are you ? Cause I’ve heard that the sugars trichomes mature way faster than the bud itself, is that true ?
That is correct, its also good to start looking about a 1/3 of the way down the plant as well as 1/3 of the way down the bud.
Thanks man and thanks to everyone for helping out feel a lot better now. the guy at the first hydro store was telling me I should cut them now and I just had a weird feeling about that, so I thankfully made this thread and y’all helped me out a lot
I keep track of both dates. When did I initiate the flowering stage by changing the light schedule to 12/12. The second date is when does actual flowering begin. This can be a rather soft date but I have settled on - when I see pistils forming tuffs i.e. buttons. This is the start of flowering.
These photos were taken on the 14th day of 12/12 light schedule
This is the same plant two days earlier (day 12)
I chose day 14 to be the start of flowering. However, I don’t think day 12 would be wrong.
But for me, day 10 would have come up short. Definitely pre-flower but not actually flowering
@beardless great example!
@Wozzy556 anytime friend. Tag me if ya need me, ill help or shoot you too someone who can. Plants look FIRE!
Ok cool and thanks so I started getting that around the 12 day mark as well, kind of glad I really made this thread cause I heard the last 2 weeks are the crucial part of flowering and if I would of taken that advice I would of had some immature buds
Crucial for weight, and potency. The buds ripen over the last 2 weeks, ever eat an under ripe bannana? Its not good tasting and its flesh is tough.
This chart will help you decide when to chop
Cool adding all these to my notes and thanks again
I keep track of both. Simplifies things.
Obi-Wan-Newt Your my only Hope! TWO people sent me lets say B-day gifts for Mrs and I lets say GOD has blessed us with over 120 seeds by quick ct.
