A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks
“If I’m only growing 1 plant what wattage HPS bulb should I buy for the vegetative growing stage?”
If I remember correctly it is recommended to have between 35-50 watts per square foot. And I would figure 2 square feet per plant which would equal out to be around 100 watt bulb. I could Ben mistaken and I’m sure if I’m wrong someone else will correct me.
a 2’ x 2’ area would be okay, 4 square ft, a 250 watt bulb would work nice with a little extra light.
I have 4 x 4 and use a 250w HPS/MH conversion ballast. MH for veg then switch to a UVB enhanced HPS and add a 300w IR LED to the tent in flower. I never grow more than two plants… its perfect for me.
