What methods to use for curing your harvest

I break it down and hang the colas, hand trim the large-med size buds, and use a manual bowl spinner to trim the small buds. Then to a drying closet with a 6 tier drying racks, with a small wall fan for circulation and set to 70 deg and 50% humidity for a week to a week and a half depending on strain and current seasonal outside temps. Then into multiple light proof plastic bins by strains, burping daily for a couple hours for another week then into mason jars with the 62% Integra humidity packs for storage and the rest in my lungs

Hey Growit, I saw this post early in my first grow but couldn’t find it when I was ready to dry-cure. My first plant is still in the jar. It has little smell, zero speak but will get you stoned up good. I have several weeks left before harvest on my second and was hoping you might assist me with dry and cure if your willing.

Absolutely
Any questions just let me know

The way I do it is just before I cut the plant down I pull off all the fan leaves by hand by pulling downward on them while gently supporting the bud while I pull them off
Then , I cut one branch at a time like this

I trim all of the sugar leaves close to the buds like this
I take one branch at a time
I then hang each branch upside down
First grow I used a cardboard box
This is my northern lights auto
I used a small grow tent loaned to me by a local grow brother
I hang for several days till the outside of the buds are slightly crispy
The I cut the buds very close from each branch and the jar them up with boveda packs like this

Every day to every other day I open the jars to air them out
Sometimes I will empty the jar completely to pull apart any buds that are sticking together and then put them back in the jar
I repeat this till the buds are completely dry and stop sticking together
Then I will just leave them alone and check them weekly
The longer they cure the better the terpine profile and taste will be
Hope this helps @Happy_Pappy

My first NL is bad but it will get you high. It had no smell unless you grind it. It had no stickiness to it either. Just grass smell dry buds. I killed it’s goodness with my over feeding and watering. My next one is much better. It smells good and is sticky as hell. I’m guessing 7 or eights to go. What do you think?

Was the auto as potent as the photo?

Be sure to let it cure for at least 30 days before ya smoke it
The grassy taste is from not drying or curing long enough

Oh yes
It was my night time medication
My current northern lights does not smell as good as my first one
It is skunkier and less piney but smelling better and better

That’s good. There is definite need for some skill when growing cannibis. I wanted to try another strain but I’m going to learn technically on all of the NL seed as a learning process before shoveling more money out. I wanna bet a tent before autumn also. I’m germing my next plant as we speak.

Very nice. Bergmans article stated that NL was one of the most potent strains known to man. What do you think? Of course the article is a few years old.

Here is my total hall from last grow
Gave away about 1/2 oz of the purple haze and 1/2 oz of the agent orange to a local grow buddy

I think it is great
I think anything you grow can be potent depending on how it is grown and just as importantly how it is trimed dried and cured
I let one of my blueberry plants go full retard and it was more potent than my northern lights was
This grow I did one NL half amber and cloudy and the other 95 % cloudy with 3 % clear and 2 % amber
They should both be different in effect
