Day 66 since germination now, heading into 10th week total, or about 7th week flower. Pistils are starting to turn orange and curl, trichomes are turning cloudy but still have some clear ones. But I think I’m having a severe defeciency. My newest leaves since Tuesday have gone from green to yellow with lots of brown crispy marks, this has come on relatively rapidly. A lot of these are in the buds themselves ie the sugar leaves. I only fed ph water on Wednesday and it took until this morning (Sunday) to dry and this has happened in that time. I gave a 3/4 nute feed today (ppm 609, run off ppm 550) so don’t know if that will prolong enough before she dies completely. My Q is should I keep her going for another 12 days which was my intention with another nute feed Wednesday then ph water from then on, or should I be looking at harvesting sooner as she looks pretty bad? Under the canopy the buds and leaves look more healthy, I suspected light damage, I’ve since raised my light to 18inch to rest her a bit too.
The pics are from Tuesday then today to show the progression, I’m suspecting a big deficiency but I’m such a novice, any advice as always will be greatly appreciated.
@Myfriendis410 sorry I wasn’t sure if I needed to tag you so you are notified about my recent reply, which I forgot to do, any help with my recent post would be appreciated
Sorry, I’m on the road and it might take a bit for me to reply. First thing you should do is put up a Support ticket so everything is right there. likely nute burn with some lockouts but need more info. @PurpNGold74@Covertgrower might weigh in.
I think you should be just fine continuing the path you have laid out. Being this far along in flower, there will be plenty of deficiencies. Nitrogen will be the largest deficiency, but being this far along that’s to be expected. Some of the crispyness is from too much heat and nutrient burn. These are things in the past, but not current. The leaves around the flowers show the correct nutrient ratios. They’re green and healthy looking.
I would continue checking trichomes, check until all of the clear are gone, and have started to turn cloudy. Based on the amount of cloudy, say 80% ish I would start flushing the medium. Everyone does this different, so you do as you think is the right time. I shoot for very little amber, but mostly cloudy trichomes. Everyone has a different preference.
Based on your flowers appearances you have a couple of weeks left yet minimum, the pistils have not turned brown yet, and the calyxes (flowers) have not bulked up yet. So wait for that, then check trichomes. Don’t skimp on the flowering nutrients yet, as it’s still important to give them what they need. You’re doing an all around good job, so don’t sell yourself short.
Thank you @Covertgrower I will try relax a bit and press on as planned, feed again this week and let them fatten up and check the trichs and pistols towards the weekend.
What should I do with the burnt curling brown leaves in the buds? is it best I trim them off as they worsen or will they be ok and just make my buds look a little worse for wear? Not all have these burnt leaves but some are crisping and browning right into the bud. I don’t mind if they don’t look the prettiest so long as they are usable. Thanks again for your help mate
@Clai3 I would trim them now, before they continue to get more crispy. Chances are that they’re not needed anymore anyways. It won’t be any easier later when you trim it for jarring.
@Covertgrower have you seen this before? I’ve just noticed today some of my top leaves are developing black edges and tips, gave 3/4 nute feed Wednesday (ppm in 600, run off 550) ph water feed Friday (ppm run off 350) and nute feed today Sunday (ppm in 600 run off 650). Ph in run off has been between 5.8 and 6.1 over that time. The black marking are only showing on one of my plants. Today is day 71 since germination. Was going to start flushing with water only from next watering on Tuesday until harvest between 10 and 14 days from now, can I ignore these new leaf markings or should I flush sooner?
Being this late in flower all you can do is keep pushing with what you have. I would wait until the pistils start turning brown. Appearance wise, that’s what it should look like when it’s ready.
