About once a week something is getting into my plants. Today I noticed a huge hole dug about 4ā down. Thereās some munching on leaves but not that much. It seems to be after the roots. We donāt have animals and we havenāt ever had an issue w any rodents. But thinking it was a mouse, we have set traps⦠tried bending the trigger so it was more sensitive to touch, sticky traps, poison bait⦠nothing has caught/killed whatever this is! Itās driving me crazy! Iām leaning toward mouse. Just a very smart one what can I do??
Your best bet is video monitoring for a few days somehow ?? Especially if you are indoors
I could see a mole or chipmunk doing this outdoors ā¦squirrels tooā¦usually animals that dig are looking for a home or to hide food ā¦not after your roots as food but the danger is them digging and hurting the roots
@beardless can I get a link to that? So I can see what it costs lol
I saw one little something that looked like a mouse dropping but Iām not sure if it was coco that had been knocked out or whatā¦
My gut says mouse but idk how Iām not catching it. There are traps everywhere. Maybe Iāll try something other than gv peanut butter lol it seems whatever this is realllllly loves digging in it and eating the leaves.
@Lacewing i donāt think itās a cavity. The coco that was dug up had a pile of coco beside it so u can tell it was actually dug into and the roots looked trashed. Plus itās on its 6th week. Skywalker og auto. Itās been in that pot for about 5 weeks of that. And about once a week⦠boom!
I read a Journal a while back and Grower was experiencing similar issues, finally figured mouse was stealing PB off trap next to hole, used bubble gum or soft-cheese really smashed on trap trigger and got it. Kinda a funny thread as the mouse was pretty crafty. Try the āsearchā with mouse.
I thought about running lights 24/7 to keep them protected since it only happens when lights are off. But I have some photo seedlings coming along. Iām very worried about their safety. Being fragile and what not.
This is what I saw when lights came on this morning. She was stressing.
If I remember correct @Not2SureYet had the same problem with something digging a hole and nibbling at the leaves. It turned out to be a mouse. It drove him crazy.
Yes! I went to him first lol he posted on his thread for me to help me out. He didnāt have them digging like dogs in his tho. I think he caught his before that happened. If onlyā¦
