Hey all, my tap ppm is 450. I barely added any nutes after my fishshit, molasses and Neptune’s and I was as at 2200 in no time. I diluted but I had a hard time getting the pH and ppm decent. I’ve never done this by ppm but I’m trying the suggestion quite blind. I’m in week 3 flower. How can I fix my water and where should I be with it? How do I add each thing to the recipe in the kreect proportions? I’m
Your tap TDS is considerably high and recommend cutting that with distilled or investing in an RO system. What’s the PH? What base NPK nutrients are you using, Neptune has several
I agree with OG. I would invest in an RO System. Not too expensive and it’s also great drinking water for yourself and your family. Should cut that ppm down from 450 to around 30-40.
The t/o system could be a big help for you. I got this one and it brought my tap down considerably and was a cheap system. Just hooked up to your faucet when needed. Add in the meter for readings.
I have been using filtered drinking water since my well water shot up over 400ppm, 5 gal jugs toting them to and from Walmart with them labeled VEG FLOWER SEEDS FRESH lmao, the looks I get some days. It tests 10-30ppm every time.
From me you’d get a knowing smile and a wink lol!!
My tap stays at 100-125 and I’ve had no issues. But i Also am using Jack’s (with several additives) but i agree with @OGIncognito and @Fieldofdreams … if my tap was that high an RO system would be my next purchase.
Good luck and happy growing.
I’m about to pick up some Jacks for the @repins12 autos tent I have growing, can I hit you up for the inside skinny on what extras you’d recommend?
For sure brother! You still got my number right!?
Also… don’t know if i told you already. But Christmas day i put the Godfather OG Clones you gave me in the flowering tent!
Also… while we’re on the subject of additives. Could someone please recommend a decent Si? Ive been using General Hydroponics but still consistently getting caolas and branches bending and in some cases cracking under the weight of thier buds…
Yes sir. That’s precisely what I’m using. Previously i was dosing it at 2ml/gal but on my 3 current grows have increased to 4ml/gal… going that will help…?
I have been using the TPS and my GOD OG still flopped everywhere too. What amount per gallon for you?
I was using 2ml/gal… but recently changed to 4ml/gal!
You are taking all the minerals out of the water with that thing. What is the PPM read on the meter after osmosis?
My RO water averages 10ppm after filtering. About 250ppm before.
Using jacks and nothing else I get good results. I have silica but its unnecessary. Huge thick stalks without it.
That’s the point
I understand that, but you did not answer my question growmie. What is the PPM’s after the water is run through that device? 450 ppm is not that far from the average tap water of 350. Shouldn’t we be more concerned with soil run off PPM? Maybe I’m wrong but seams to be a little miss guided. Rain water is like 500 PPM and that does not seem to affect outdoor grows.
Here’s my thoughts. @JayDawg
I take my tap of average 180 ppm down to about 8-10. This allows me to pack that much more in my nute feedings with exactly the supplements I want her to absorb. R/o also becomes a neutral source so ph-ing on water days isn’t relevant. I do ph after I add in anything though. If my water was 450 and the target ppm’s were 1000 I’d have to slice my schedule down to 1/3 or more.
Come visit my grow and cast your own opinion on what I can produce. I’m still relatively new myself. I hope this helps you with where my heads at.
thats considerably high for tap unless you’re using a well system. My city tap is less than 100 and not really an accurate # being less than 100. The mineral contents are unknown unless you had a water quality test done so an RO system is the way to go and add calcium back
Well said Grow Bro
