I have a meter to check my soil. It has a scale that goes from dry to moist to wet. I have never let them drop to dry or increased it to wet. I try to keep it in the moist area. Should I let them actually get a little dry or keep on like I have been? I have 4 plants each in 5 gallon buckets. I have 2 1200 watt grow lights. This is my 2nd grow but the first inside controlled grow.
@rockfish37072 pictures are worth a thousand words.
With out pictures I have one word for that meter. Junk.
As long as the soil is moist up to the second knuckle you’re okay. I would water after that if it becomes dryer. But this depends on the age of the plant. If it’s really young you may not be able to water to run off yet.
suggest you get a PH n PPM Meter set…essential!!!

@Covertgrower has you covered with the good ol finger test. Another way is to lift the pot to see how heavy it is. When you use the finger test and think it is time to water lift the pot. It will give you a good idea of the weight. These plants can take some pretty dry soil don’t be afraid of letting them get a little dryer.
Thanks yeah the top is dry, leaf’s are praying. It’s moist from about 2 inches down and heavy too
I personally like to let mine dry out because it makes the roots go hunting for water thus giving you bigger roots. I water my outdoors everyday to every other day depending on the California weather and my indoor plants I only water once every five days or so. I lower the pH of the water I use to about 6.3 before watering the plants. If I stick my whole finger in the soil and it comes out dry, then I’ll water again. shit you can even wait for the leaves to start drooping because the plant will tell you when she’s thirsty. Once she gets water she’ll be back up in an hour. Certain strains are more prone to showing signs of thirst. Most of my plants do nothing but my blue dream always droops when she’s thirsty.
Thanks, I’ll try that
Ph and ppm maintenance for the water/nurtrient solution you are adding, as well as measuring the water runoff are key. If you din5 have them, pick up a ppm and ph meter and some ph up and down. Good luck
My ph is at 7. Is that ok?
The pH needs to be lower. 6.5 for soil, 5.8 fr soilless/hydro.
They were planted from germination on 3/31. Went 18/6 50 days. 12/12 since Watering
Looks like she’s in full flower!
