Water Reservoir

When you have water in a tank or reservoir just as back up water do you have to have air stone in it or can you just let it set ?

If you let it set it will go stagnant. Best to agitate or add air. I actually prefer small aquarium wavemakers as they draw much less power than an air pump and do a great job. Ran an automated drip system the last grow (diy) with not one rez change through the entire grow. And that was with nutrients.

Use a wave maker. Air stones aerate the water, wave maker just moves it.

A wave maker will also affect pH swings less.

So would it be good idea to use both or just the wave maker?

A bubbler will aerate the water and introduce carbon causing pH drifts. A bubbler is good for brewing compost teas because they need the agitation. You don’t necessarily need a bubbler/air stones. You just want the feed to stay moving so it doesn’t settle and stays mixed.
