Starting another run of an unknown bag seed run. I did the paper towel method and out of 5 seeds only three cracked open with a tap root. This morning one of the new baby’s poked it’s head up out of the soil. So here we go.
Out of likes for the day (I just woke up, c’mon man!) but I’ll be following along for the ride.
Glad to have you here in the forum so if something goes wrong lol I’m half way thru my work day
Progress on the new seedlings 2 have popped and showed their faces and one is still a little shy I hope. We shall see.
How did you source the seeds?
Friend of mine had a bag filled with different seeds he’s collected the past year from people who have grown or when he’s found one in his bag here and there. I look at it as it won’t hurt to give them a try and let them start and see. Hell I got to learn as I go anyway so it’s more practice
Cut yourself some drain holes in that cup, friend.
I did lol they have 5 on bottom of each cup and then they have a slit in the cup ever 1in around the base on the sides I did it with a razor blade. I did it that way so the dirt wouldn’t make a mess since my mix has sand in it. The one cup I put holes in it all the way around as I filled it with dirt it spilled out of the bottom so I did the slit in one and filled it with water and added slit til it drained out at a steady pace. I do have to ask though when do the plants start there new leaves these seem just to want to grow and my light I have them under is only 18" above them.
Once they’re done root building, they will move on to new leaves. They’ll alternate as they grow - once you transplant them into larger containers, you’ll probably see them “stall out” for a few days while they shift the energy back into making bigger roots to fill the bigger pots. After they’ve gotten comfortably large, they’ll go back to making leaves. It’s a fine balancing act but it’s definitely a test of patience when you can’t see the roots growing. I took a page from Hellraiser’s book (specifically his cloning guide) and planted my seeds in a clear solo cup, then popped the clear cup inside a red one so I can lift my plant out and see the roots growing. (Sh*% that reminds me I have some clones that are about to be root bound LOL)
As far as the holes- good thing! I just can’t see any they’re so little
Yeah I made sure of the holes I have made the mistake of not putting holes in a cup before with a different type of plant and water logged it lol. And I never thought of a clear cup lol I will have to try that one and I am going to take a page out of his cloning book also with the waiting til the roots pop to plant them into dirt. Everytime I have done them straight into the dirt they have died. So we shall see.
@kaptain3d @420growerva and I’ll tag you in the new start up for an unknown stain of seeds. I know they are good someone I know got some seeds out of the same batch of bud and sprouted them and got two boys and two girls. Can’t wait to see what I ended up getting. It’s so exciting and killing me to wait
I can relate. I’ve got 2 random bag seed that the stoner who gave em to me is 90% sure are Purple Urkle (can’t verify that til the flowers are purple lol ) and the one bag seed she gave me last time is luckily female so I can hope!
I’m counting down til I can sex them. I hope all are female. I am ok with a male too. I want to keep a male for incase I get one of my clones to take I will cross for the seeds and try my luck lol. We will see
They are doing good it seems to me. I noticed two of them had spots on the leaves but I don’t know what it could be from everything I have looked at and all of the charts I have from everyone on here says a deficiency of sorts. I fed them yesterday morning due to changing the cup they were in. And I not using a super good nute soil so I guessed feeding them some fox farm was a good thing. And I only did it til the run off started and then went to the next.
Keep an eye on em. I saw someone else somewhere in a different forum threat that seedlings take on that yellow color when they’re overwatered and are starting to dampen off. Make sure you don’t give them any more water until they’re dry throughout and they should gain color with the nutes You supplemented with.
Ok thank you. yeah I was starting to worry there and I mean the roots are good and long when I transplanted to a bigger cup the roots were there and you can see them now if I take the clear cup out of the white one I have them in to keep the water from going everywhere.
