So if i understand thing correctly during flower stage , things can vary drastic. I assume that the recommended flowering time would be for perfect conditions. I noticed that all my grows go way past recommended time frames and there is a second growth spert in th last 4 weeks or so. Being a novice when i think my girls are ready more pistils start to pop out and the flower gets noticeably bigger. And that would be the time to start checking trichromes. Not sure if this ecen makes any sense but this is what i have seen. Anyone car to shed knowledge on the flowering cycles as far as bud development . I understand how it works for the most part but i feel as i definitely rushed a lot of my grows and sacrificed yields, definitely learing patience is key .

I just watch the calyxs for when they pop and swell then I will check the trichomes.
When the calyxs are swelling to seed size they are getting close.
Works for me.
When you say calyx’s pop, do they actual pop open?
So I just started my 2nd grow. But my first grow I I noticed what I thought were under developed seed shells or something. But now that I’ve read your thread I believe that is what I seen. Calyx’s getting so engulfed they start splitting open and “popping”? Is that what was going on? I did not find one seed under or fully developed out of all 4 girls I ran. I haven’t read that it is possible for calyx’s to do that… if that’s what actually happened . Sorry for rambling.

No ,that is just a term I use.
When they are fully developed and swollen is what I meant.
That is when I check trichomes.
As they swell, more trichs {OIL} develops on the flowers.
Over time, they will change from clear to darker.
May need good eyes or x60 magnifyer.
I thought swollen calyxs were a sign of plant making seeds or herming
So these are my current girls , ran into some issues but i thing i got them back on right track. However i noticed that one of the girls is very thin in comparison to the rest as far as flower size and im only going into week 5 from flip date. Lost quite a bit of fan leaves from a cal and mag deficiency i believe, hopefully they will make it through. Think ill cut back 4 girls at a time i tend to have problems when i do more then that.
Weeks 4 to 5 is when the budd go for round 2. Theyll start to fatten up until they are gluttonous!
I have found on average that my plants usually take between 10 and 12 weeks once they time has been changed to 12/12. I don’t consider them flowering until I have “budlets” which is usually 2 weeks after the flip to 12/12.
That is where they would be if she were pollinated.
