Under lighting?

I am on the verge of flower and am wondering if bringing in a few small led flowering lights and shining them up my plants skirt into the underside of the canopy would be beneficial?

Unfortunately it wouldn’t, all of the chloroplasts are located on the top of the leaf. If you notice the leaves are lighter in color on the underside, no chloroplasts there.

Hmmm, thought I might be onto something.

I’ve seen lights mounted to the sides of the tent/grow space.

The lights are small and cheap. I will play with that, thanx!

one of @Hellraiser journals he talks about he had tried it

I use side and up light both. They will use the light for photosynthesis from any direction. Just not as efficient.

My largest harvests have often included under-lighting and/or side lighting, though most growers will say it’s not worth it or is useless. Having great lights on top are most important but if you have some extra lights why not give it a try.

Used a HLG 135 Rspec for under lighting on this grow

Added some underlighting. Full spectrum outdoor rated 35w each.

@Gruid, Make sure to monitor your temps and distance to the plant very closely. Heat is now rising through the plant, as opposed to being just radiant heat from above.

The more I look at it, I would back them off 4-6 inches. Leaves will be more sensitive to light because they were in heavy shade before.

I am having same thought about backing the lighrs off. I have pushed the lighting through out the grow tho.
I am monitoring it daily and will continue to do so. My intent is to back them off when I switch to 12/12 but the underside is so dense with growth I was worried about getting enough light to it.

The voice in my head lost its argument with your advice. So, did a rearrange.
