Trim trays and the user experience

So I just bought a vivosun trim tray and I’m a few weeks out from harvest im excited to try it out but was wondering if anyone has any experience with them

I don’t have any personal experience with Vivosun trays, so I don’t have any experience-based answers to your question. I haven’t seen any bad reviews of them, so I guess they must be at least par for the market.

On a related note, I’ve wondered about the trim trays. If you’re doing a small grow (like 2 plants in a 2’x4’ tent that’ll yield a total of ~10-15oz), do you really need a trim tray to handle that job or would it be overkill for that small an amount of trim?

Shake and trim the buds over the trim tray Brother…lots of that good golden keef will be collected. I grind and roll all my buds over the tray :love_you_gesture:

Maybe not if it’s the only run you do. But i get about 12-14oz, 3x a year, so over time, the $40 I spent on mine was pretty worth it.

@Borderryan22 Thanks for that thought. That small grow is what I hope to be doing 2x or maybe 3x/year starting next year, so I guess I’m in the low end of the range where a tray would make sense.

I like to super dry all the sugar leaves and larfy buds and rub them lightly on the screen. Then I’ll shake the whole thing, and lift and drop the screen a couple times. I’ve been doing it with that same pile in the pics for a while. About time to add it to the qwet jar.

:point_up_2: that’ll score a lot of keef. I’ve gotten lazy lately but that’s how I did it before and unbelievable the amount you can collect :love_you_gesture:

No worries growmie. I run a lot of autos, so I have a slightly faster turn around on most grows. But the trim bin czn save a lot of that frosty keif goodness, even if you only pull a few oz. Trim all the buds over it. It’s a real handy thingamajig.

I’ll trim larger sugar leaves throughout the grow and leave them too. Just scrape them once or twice like sand paper and the trichs come right off. I probably use it every day.

Looks awesome any tips or tricks for maximum collection

If trimming, not really any tricks. I’ve read some growers giving the buds a couple of bounces to knock off some crystals, but I don’t. I chunk all the big fans away, bag up the good buds, and leave all the small fluffy stuff i most likely wouldn’t smoke on the tray. I let it all sit for a couple more days, to get totally dry and crispy, then lightly rub it against the screen. I’ll sift it around and shake it a little, and take the part with the screen and tap it against the inner sides of the bottom tray.

Some strains do better than others, but I’ve gotten keif that literally melted into wax/dab. Just don’t crumble the weed up too much or it turns to dust like the trichomes and falls in the collection.

Mine is almost identical but isn’t branded Vivosun. Works like a dream catching Kieff while trimming dry bud.
