Hello growmies, my issue today is that I recently noticed that the trichomes are getting real milky and IV noticed some already turning amber. But most of the pistils are still white. Should I go based off pistils or the trichomes.
I am on day 70, week 10. 2 days till I start week 11.

Yes I have a lot of white pistils but my trichomes are getting cloudy and some amber already. My dilemma is since some trichomes are already getting amber and if I wait longer won’t the Potency diminish if I’m watching for the pistils to get orange. I do know that the pistils will change due to maturity that’s how some people watch for when to harvest but most people watch the trichomes.
My question is if I see a lot of amber should I harvest or should I wait for the pistils even though it will drop the THC content.
@Flitme Yes I know that I do have some time left. But my question is should I be watching the trichomes or the pistils. Because most people watch the trichomes and I was reading sometimes the white pistils will stay white even into late flower. I am about maybe 6 weeks into flower. This is a autoflower
I have some amber trichomes in my flower but most are cloudy I have a loop to see
Here’s an idea seeing you harvested a plant at the same age when its trimmed look at the trichomes (then it’s all bud) see what you think about the trichomes. I’ve never heard of going by the pistols alone for making a harvest decision.
Your plant has a lot of bulking up to do yet. Early harvest is the biggest reason autos have a rep of low yield. I have had a few autos do the same thing, cloudy at 4-5 weeks but no real bud mass or structure yet. My Current grow has a critical mass that has been cloudy on the buds for almost 2 weeks and they are still building. Your plant looks good, but the small and spindly buds need more time to gain weight.
I have also had some that never turned cloudy and went straight to amber from clear. Still great smoke, just no cloudy trichs.
To answer your question, watch the trichomes it’s is where the magic is at.
But…
Oftentimes older trichomes turn Amber before the plant is ready.
If she’s still massing buds and fattening she’s likely consuming a lot of water. When you find you do not need the water as much she’s close.
