Hello, I’m growing the strain Amnesia Haze Outdoors in Massachusetts. I usually top at the 5th node and let it grow out 3 nodes before I top it again. Because of the lack of sun I’ve only topped once for one plant but topped the other day when it got to the desired node and the direction I’d like it to branch. I wasn’t sure if I topped it to late.
My question is it too late to top a Amnesia Haze Outside in Massachusetts right now? because I don’t wanna top the other one again if it’s too late. I’d like to top the other one today if it’s not too close to budding. Any advice would be much appreciated it’s now July 22. I know they go into flower sometime in August I’d love to get more branches if it’s not too late. I’d be topping it for it’s second time. Usually I’m done doing that by July 9th but the Sun haven’t been my friend this year. Thanks in advance.

Thank you!! I really appreciate the reply. I didn’t wanna top it to late and regret it. When would you says to late for future reference? It had the 2 lil hairs making me think it was going into preflower but I’m under the impression that it’s just showing it’s sex. I know some strains start early but Amnesia takes her time and gets the job done right. Good luck with yours. Happy Growing to you as well!!!
@Smokeybandit
I’m north of Boston and plants are going into preflower early this year.

So I shouldn’t top it anymore?

@Covertgrower is far more experienced than I am.
If mine was showing pre-flowers I would not.

It’s just the 2 white hairs at the nodes so I’m pretty confused at this point.

I’m on the cape, plants are in pre flower down here…you can top, no worries.
Honestly my best buds come from plants in pots that get blown over by the wind…it’s like the more the plant thinks its dieing…the better buds and resin production…told my wife I’m gonna start pushing planters over o purpose…lol
I experimented with splitting trunks of the plant last year, watch a video on this, I thought stupid, but after trying I’m definitely want to try again…the buds went crazy with resin…leading me to think the more you can make them think they are at risk of dieing…the more they try to reproduce, thus making fatter buds.
Keep a journal, you’ll find what methods you like and work for you.
Happy gardening
