Topping autoflowers or LST

From a fellow grower: . All over the forums, it says “don’t top, it will stunt. Don’t top autos, they have a limited veg already” but I did not get any lateral growth. All the nodes, besides the top node, never stretched. Just curious if you top or LST.

Sativas definitely dont need topping they already grow wide enough indicas 80%+can benefit from a top and Lst but don’t need it as long as you keep the main cola level with the canopy height

I’ve only grown a few auto’s and FIM’d them & LST’d them they responded very well to both. Resulting in many cola’s of good size for an auto. Least amount was around 3oz. & most just under 5 (dried). Grown in Hydro drip system.

I topped both my autos, I also LST’d them. No problems whatsoever.

I’ve been growing Autos inside and out for a couple years. I used to top them just as a matter of practice but Now I FIM them. I clip about 75% of the new leaf growth from the top of the third node. Gives me a nice bushy plant with a flat canopy and multiple colas. Those little Autos are tough plants and I have yet to see any ill effects from topping or FIMing.

I’m just starting to grow my first autos, (literally just put sprouts in soil 2 days ago) 4 strains 2 each my plan is to top 1 of each strain to compare them for future reference. I’ve been reading everything I can find on autos for tips and techniques and like you said everyone I read contradicts the one I just read (like everything else on the internet) which is why I came up with this experiment of topping 1 of each strain.
Because I haven’t grown autos I don’t have advice but wanted to share my plan to answer my question which is the same one you just asked  good luck :deciduous_tree: :sunglasses:
