Do you think I topped this correctly? Total height not an issue, just figured I would try it. Additionally, too conservative on where I topped it?

Looks good to me 
If you leave any of the new growth leaves, it may end up more like a FIM but looks good.

As long as you don’t take a bunch at once and shock the plant, you could take as much as a third of the plant off the top. The two crotches below the cut is where you’ll see the growth take off once she recovers. Those will become two new “tops.”
