Toping off pots with fresh soil

Hey everyone. I’ve just flipped my Durban’s to flower about a week ago. I’ve noticed my soil levels have dropped a inch or two since I started growing. Would it be beneficial to add a inch or two of fresh soil to my pots or could it cause issues with root or stem rot? I’m in 5 Gallon grow bags by the way. Thanks in advance. :call_me_hand:

You could add some without a issue, but in my experience it’s not necessary. My soil always compacts down, I’ve never seen a problem because of it. You could use your fingers to rake and break up the top layer of soil. :+1:

Top inch or so is already loose. My thinking was by adding some soil maybe the roots would move up into that loose soil some.

Go for it , definitely not going to hurt anything. I usually mix in a little super worm frass Or worm castings when I had a little soil. Good luck

@Reeferleafer it would probably be similar to the top dressing a lot of growers use for feeding. And they do say take a stretched seedling and bury her up to her neck and she’ll root out so why now?
