Hey guys. On my first auto flower grow. On these do you trim lower growth? I watch Mr. Canuck channel on YouTube if you have not seen him the guy has it down. He doesn’t seem to trim at all when he’s doing autos just LST. I’m curious what the rule is for this?
There’s no real rule for it. It’s really a grower preference. I do strip the bottom 1/3rd of the plant.
It depends on what you have for light, when outside the sun moves around so more of your plant will get light. Inside with a single source light up top won’t ever shine on the bottom third of the plant and if you leave it it just steals nutes and water from the parts getting light and getting fat.
I see in some people posts that their plants are trimmed right down to the bud poimt itself…is this how far we go??? Do we take ALL fan leaves??
Thats how far I went…still got some fan leaves as I’m told they need them …
Your plants need to have some leaves to collect light don’t take em all off,
Haha @MeEasy Im seeing you everywhere dude. Nice to hve another forum lizard beside Bobby and Ser Vert popping up everywhere.
Its a personal preference OP. @imSICKkid and @Grandaddy013 are BRUTAL on there defoils. It pains me. But the proof is in the pudding.
@GreenJewels is kinda half n half n her plants are always beautiful.
Im lazy lazy and forget to water/feed often so my leaves are kind of my insurance to keep plants alive, with me only cleaning the bottoms of nodes and pulling a few leaves a day throughout flower. Diff strokes for diff folks.
If you have more then one plant, try diff techniques on them. Find out what works for you instead of tryna find a rule of thumb.
Don’t get me wrong I definitely believe in defoliation, I leave some leaves. In my experiments with it, if you take all of the leaves my sugar leaves would be bigger and more of them and it made my end product full of little sticks that you either have to pick out or grind up and smoke.
I do not trim all my leaves at one time. I continually take them throughout the flowering period. I take no more than 1/3 of the available leaves at any time. This works for me.
See what I mean above? Not for the faint of heart at all! But the ends justify it obvs
Thanks I do like to leave enough to let me know when I have a problem, they can pull mobiles if needed and let me know I need to correct something. I do take the light blocking leaves throughout the grow.
