I’m new to growing and currently underway with my first grow. One of the things I’m finding different opinions on is the misting of leaves in a tent.
Do you or don’t you?
I’ve read mist them to simulate the rain outside, I’ve read mist them before the lights turn off, mist them when the lights turn on, just the tops and the tops and bottoms.
I’ve also read to never mist them at all.
I’m sort of lost at what to do. Which is the better method and why?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb question.
I’ve never misted as the risk outweighs potential benefits. Cannabis can get what it needs from proper watering practices and by maintaining proper humidity levels.
I agree with @MidwestGuy. I feel like it isn’t necessary and adds extra chores to an already hefty list
Only time I mist my plants is during the seedling/clone stage or as a quick fix to correct a deficiency In veg (Top and bottom of leaves before light out) .
I would not recommend misting otherwise
I started watering instead of misting this week. I did have the mister ready when some water splashed on her leaf. I’ve also started a weak nutrient solution. Hope this helps
I would worry about mildew and gnats. Some people do foliar feeding.
I have an outdoor grow that was covered with ash from the forest fires, and I did spray with water to rinse ash off, but I did it early on a sunny days so it would dry out. Otherwise, I spray with diluted hydrogen peroxide and Bt bacillus as treatments.
Not sure if it is true or not, but I was listening to the dude grows pod cast and guru was talking about those wildfires and the ash and how if it mixes with water it turns into lye. Would be careful and check it out if you’re in the area of those. Maybe a bud wash would clean that?
They were talking about using a leaf blower to blow the ash off before doing any cooler feedings.
I never mist or dome seedlings, don’t see it as necessary or even beneficial, specially since I’ve been doing it for 30 years without misting and doming with no problems. I also water my seedlings fully from the beginning (in a solo cup) with no problems or ever have over watering issues, and people constantly wonder how my sprouts grow so fast.
I do spray my plants if there is a reason to - pest prevention treatments mostly but not in the seedling stage.
