I was informed that if I buy one of those $500 grow tents, the THC in my MJ plants would increase. As a gardener, I’m not sure how that method would increase what a plant is naturally ‘given’. ?? Opinions from those using grow tents?
Doesn’t matter how much you spend on the tent.
If it stands up, keeps light out and does what you need it to it works.
Only you can control how your plants turn out, not the tent.
Lights
Nutrients
Genetics
Will determine the quality of your product
Tents offer a lot of benefits like an environment that is easier to control for humidity and temperature, light containment, etc., but I don’t think higher THC is one of those benefits. Like Pharmerbob said, things like quality lighting (the single best thing you can do) and proper nutrient levels will help maintain a healthy plant.
I have grown in tents that cost 100 and upgraded to a more expensive type and the only difference is that I learned how to grow better each time thru this forum learning how to grow not the cost of the tent. happy growing
I have two tents,4×8 that I got for less than $150, and I just pulled over 2 pounds from each one.Lights, nutes and genetics ,along with experience is the biggest factor.
Do you have a link to those tents?
I’m learning too!
One is a Vivosun and the other a no name brand, were both on sale. Look on Amazon or Google grow tents. There are always sales going on.
Cool grow make a nice tent at an affordable price has the nice reflective film on the inside so it reflects real good. I have a 2x4x60 cool grows for seeding plants in and its a noce tent for like 70 bucks
I just looked on Amazon and there are several 4×8 for under $200 , and lots of smaller tents under $150 There is one for 150 that looks as good as the more expensive ones.Lots of choices and various prices. The Vibosun I have is now $205,but the no name I have is just as good and less pinhole light leaks
Your all fools don’t you understand why they are 500 $ it’s because they’re installed with a sprinkler system that dusts concentrated thc liquid onto your plants jk sounds like they’re just trying to sell to either idiot’s are ignorant business people setting their cannabis business up. I personally grow in a literal closet and have had fantastic results for my 2nd auto grow
A couple things to consider about a tent. At least things I looked for.
Obviously size.
Durability and zipper quality. I am in and out of it almost daily so ability to withstand normal wear-and-tear was important.
Access. My preference was for a door that opens completely. Not the half-moon shaped entries.
Pole strength. Take the weight of lights and fans, filters, etc.
Portals for electric connections, intake and exhaust. Number and locations. Can be important depending where it is located.
Make sure you have enough space for the tent because ill tell you my 4x4 and getting my fat ass around it takes up more like 5x8 so that I can use the side doors, and the vents all the way around
browse amazon…plenty of serviceable tents for around $100
lights, grow media and nutes are essential. expensive tent…not so much
I’ve read all of these carefully… and I have one more question (well for this topic anyway… lol) What is the purpose of a tent? I am really wondering as I grow outside… and I have a greenhouse attached to my house. How would a tent benefit me? Thanks.
The need and purpose of a tent depends on the circumstances. I live in an illegal state and this in itself is a significant reason. In my case, it gave me a dedicated, controlled space in which to grow. I have a 3x3 tent because that is the amount of space I had available within the area I could dedicate to growing. A tent provides light control to allow me to grow photoperiods. It controls smell through the filter /exhaust system as well as other attributes (temp & humidity).
I am thinking about adding more space to grow. I will not be using a tent but the space I build will have to satisfy the same requirements. Privacy, security, light, smell and convenience of location.
I guess I want to know who told you this, and why they think your THC levels leave room for improvement.
@KeystoneCops My daughter. I’ve been trying to use MJ for her to be able to get rid of the ‘poison’ the doctors have prescribed over the years. It a long hard struggle. She buys at dispensaries- very expensive. I thought I might save her some money but she says my plants just don’t have the potency she needs. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong.
Let’s focus on that. Where are you getting genetics? What are you buying, and how many plants are you growing?
Usually, potency issues are going to be due to harvesting too early. But let’s tick all the boxes.
@KeystoneCops I’ve purchase 95% of my seeds here on this site. Probably $3k+ worth over two years. Currently (in my greenhouse) I have 3 Santa Marta Columbian Gold (not available here) from AMS. Last summer I grew 12 plants… mixed variety - Blue Dream, Durban Poison, Calf. Dream, Super Skunk. They’ve been in cure jars since September. I tried harvesting one later and it turned hermi (but it really smelled nice… lol) I have a jeweler’s loupe and I really watch the amount of ‘time’ to harvest as printed, although I realized that’s not always set in stone. Thank you for helping.
