Yep, though I’ll use store bought ingredients in my potting mix, my own compost has too many seeds.

@GrnyGrows looks great! I’m jealous. My garden (so far) is still in the house (and in the greenhouse on days when it’s warm enough). That means they all get carried into and out of the house a lot! I’m waiting for warmer temps and a few dry days in a row to get everything put into the garden. I have too many plants, so the smaller ones will hang out in the greenhouse as “spares” in case anything happens out in the garden. I’m hoping one day this week, but meanwhile, here is my garden today…

Very cool. You’re going to have a great harvest. Oh and don’t be envious of my early Southern start. Come Aug. you’ll have beautiful plants and I’ll be winding down for the dog days of summer.

I hope you’re right! This is my first year in NE Ohio after decades in SoCal. I am used to putting everything in the garden in mid March. I’m feeling WAY behind!

It’s always strange to change environments. My friend is a master gardener in W. Pa, close to you. Her rule for me, there, was – wait to plant until the May full moon. So be patient, if you can.

The May Full Moon in May is known as the Flower Moon. Other names include the Planting Moon, and the Milk Moon, while some named it the Hare Moon.

This year we also have a total eclipse on the full moon Flower Moon: May's Full Moon & Total Lunar Eclipse | May 2022 | The Old Farmer's Almanac

@stockdogranch very jealous of these beautiful southern gardens. In NE Ohio we have had so much rain its been hard to even get soil tilled! Rule of thumb is you’re safe after Memorial Day. Many of us jump the gun a couple of weeks, but prepare to cover for a late spring frost.

@RubysMom Yeah–I managed to get the tiller in there that one hot weekend, but I’m so tired of the squishy, spongy, muddy mess. Looks like this whole week is going to be warm and dry, so I think I’m gonna give it a shot and get these plants into the ground, maybe mid week.

I dropped plants at the end of March – as our avg final frost is Mar 26… Oh no, says mother nature. We had four more frosts – last one well into mid April.

Don’t be jealous of our early gardens – come Aug. 1 they’ll be struggling when you’re going strong.

Holy smokes… my garden decided to get with it the past week or so. I’m already harvesting cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, lettuce and strawberries. Booh yah. How’s your veggie grow going? Updates please.
