Supplemental - GH Feeding Schedules

@MattyBear @Missiles @blackthumbbetty @Covertgrower @elheffe702 @garrigan62

Good Morning Fellow Cultivators!

I was looking for a few opinions on supplemental Nutrient amounts and frequency of feeding the following diluted nutrient mix. PH to be adjusted after all have been added to around 6.8-7.0 for a soil grow using FFOF in 10 Gallon Fabric Pots.

From the time of transplant into their permanent 10 gallon fabric pots, they have vegged at 18/6 for 6 weeks. On January 1st, I switched to 12/12.

I will be adding the following ā€œliteā€ nutrient mixture per gallon of H2O.

Flora Nova Bloom (4-8-7) 1 Tsp
Liquid Kool Bloom (0-10-10) 1 Tsp
Sugaree (0-2-2) 1-2Tsp

I will be increasing the ratios as the bloom period transitions from early to late bloom.
The big question I have is the frequency of feeding?

I was thinking of adding 1 quart of mix 2 to 3 times a week.
I have no experience with measuring PPM at this point.

Thanks in Advance PEEPs

I would add Micro to the mix…Epsom Salt too.

Keep your TDS at 900 to 1,000 ppm (you really should be monitoring that).

Does that ph range work for you in ffof? It’s a little on the higher end. I would Just keep an eye on them.

I usually do a feed, feed, feed water schedule. It really depends on how they respond also I may do less feed if they aren’t liking it.

In FFOF, or any ā€œsoilā€ that isn’t coco or a soilless medium like peat, you should be checking runoff ppms so you know when the nutrients that came in the soil have been depleted and then start adding your own nutrients. @Myfriendis410 gave a good baseline to feed at, however, in soil, don’t worry as much if ppms are a little higher than growing in a soilless medium where you alone are in control of what the plant is getting. There are more micronutrients present in soil naturally that can cause higher ppms. I would always start them at half strength and adjust from there. :v::bear:

A bit off topic, but does the FF trio also require micro supplementation?

They are doing pretty well, PH has not appeared to affect adversely. I do however want to have a working knowledge of PPM and how to interpret.

I really only supplement during flower with a light nutrient mix and increase sightly towards the end. Generally FFOF can take the plants all way through but IMHO, it also depends on size of plant, container and total volume of soil.

FF bases their product off of 200 ppm tap water so may not be necessary.

Good info. Thanks. I’m using distilled and usually add 1ml of Floramicro and 1/2 ml of CalMag, so I’m probably getting it right then.

Wow they do look good! I use ffof and I can usually get 4 to 6 weeks of feed off the soil before I have to start adding any nutrients

Thanks Matty! At this point it is a ā€œliteā€ nutrient solution and the soil does appear to very well on its way to becoming a large ā€œrootballā€ if you know what I mean. Just wasn’t sure on frequency. @Missiles I thing I will start with 1 Quart 3 times a week to start and see how they react.

I added GH Grow during the transition week and they really perked up and got a bit greener, leading me to believe it is time to start supplementing. Really a noticeable difference. I’ll keep on monitoring the tips for burning!

I measured my girls the day I switched. The lights have been 17"-19" from canopy and they stretched almost 7" in height and over 3" in diameter! I LOVE GROWING MARIJUANA!!!

Currently Demented is around 46’ High by 32" in diameter
Currently Charlottes Web is around 59" High by 32" in Diameter

Your definitely doing a good job with them

I’ve kind of changed my thinking on how to supplement in flower: I try to support the plant with enough N that I don’t see those late flower cascading defs that we all see. I believe that the yields improve and the finished flower is the best I’ve ever experienced.

If you did a ā€˜Lucas’ Formula that would introduce some N to the grow.

Thanks Friend! Could you elaborate further on the late flower cascading defects? i.e. Drooping? Additionally, I haven’t heard of the ā€œlucasā€ formula.

I did find a pretty good explanation on Guaranteed Analysys #forthosewhowanttoknow

@Originalgazelle,

Here is your PPM

Start with 600 PP M for week 1
900 P P M for week 2
1200 P P M for week 3
if you go over 3 weeks veg
1500 PPM week 4
1800 PPM week 5 and hold there
at bloom I flush and go to 1000 PPM week1
1300 ppm week 2
1600 PPM week 3
1900 PPM week 4
flush weekly…VERY INPORTANT
and hold there until last 2 weeks and ad your bloom enhancers.

As for the Micro. I give my girls a Micro Tea once every two weeks this is what I use…

It’s essentially the GH trio and you remove the Grow nutrient so it’s a GH Duo. I’ll paste a link to an article write up about the technique.
