Sulfites and Polyethylene glycol

Do we have any chemists in the house? anyone else here sulfite or polyethylene glycol intolerant?

i was looking into vapes but the solvents all look like they may wind their way down the PEG or sulfite pathway.

it also makes me curious about nutes. I’m using advanced nutrients which is “salt based” and i know from past experiences that a few meds (not pot) that i’ve tried that were salt based have lead to crazy headaches and it’s been my own very weak biochem knowledge that’s lead me to consider it may be sulfite related.

there have been a few strains i’ve tried that have given me headaches after smoking- so far it’s all been street stuff so i don’t know how it’s grown, but now it’s got me curious if it’s the nutes used in growing vs the strain. i’m months away from testing out my own grow.

I haven’t looked into making anything yet other than a brief look at butter, but i’ll check that out. i got my medical card so was browsing menus of dispensaries. i also emailed a few growers to see what they use for nutes, but go figure, no replies yet.

on my own production side, just the grow is keeping me occupied at the moment, but the biochemistry of this does really interest me. i’m seeing a few other people reporting headaches or other possible adverse reactions as well so I’m curious. that being said, my next grows are probably going to be organic. i struggled for years trying to figure out why i was getting headaches and it turned out to be sulfites and they pop up in all sorts of unexpected places. maybe this could solve some mysteries for others as well. i have a reaction to topical PEG, so inhaling that seems scary.

5 lbs steamed bone meal
5 lbs bloom bat guano
5 lbs blood meal
3 lbs rock phosphate
¾ cup Epson salts
½ cup sweet lime (dolomite)
½ cup azomite (trace elements)
2 tablespoons powdered humic acid

1/2 Recipe
4 1.5 cubic ft bags of Roots Organics
12.5 to 25 lbs of organic worm castings
2.5lbs steamed bone meal
2.5lbs bloom bat guano
2.5lbs blood meal
1.5lbs rock phosphate
3/8 cup or 6 tablespoons Epsom Salts
1/4 cup or 4 tablespoon sweet lime (dolomite)
1/4 cup or 4 tablespoons azomite (trace elements)
1 tablespoon powdered humic acid

1/4 Recipe
2 1.5 cubic ft bags of Roots Organics
6.25 to 12.5 lbs of organic worm castings
1.25lbs or 20 ounces steamed bone meal
1.25lbs or 20 ounces bloom bat guano

Don’t make cartridge oil and you wont need PG,True-Terps ,yata ,yata.
