Still waiting to harvest , help please

I was getting ready to harvest this plant. I flushed for 2 days. It began to grow many white pistils afterwards. Decided let it do it’s thing. Continued to feed. I’m a new grower. Should I be waiting for calyx’s to swell as this plant is sensing end of life span. Advice needed please.

How long have they been in flower, light height and intensity. Seeing a lot of fox tails… a sign the lighting intensity is too much or light is too close. Do you have a mag glass , jewelers loop or a way to zoom in on the bud Trichomes?

Those are some pretty buds but I think there’s to many white pistils (hairs) to be ready to cut. If I had to guess on time I would say 3-4 weeks left

First, wow what buds! Beautiful.

Second, I don’t think they are quite ready yet - but I’m not good enough to judge by those pictures. I’d need some better trichome closeups.

I think i was reading about this in another thread. Foxtailing is what is called. And if i remember somthing to do with light intensity. I’m not 100 though. Someone else will see this and be able to be more helpful. Besides that. She looks purdy with all that color.

Can you tell I’m fox tail Leary after my :poop:

If you made the decision to harvest, this changes nothing. Continue as planned.

Your plant has been trying to do one thing. Produce seeds. As a female plant, receptive pistils are key. As pistils brown (for whatever reasons), their associated calyx will remain and the new calyx with new pistils will grow. A plant could produce new calyx all the way up until harvest.

Foxtailing is an extreme example. The calyx grow one on top of the last until it looks like something out of a Dr. Suess Whogarden.

I said all that to say this, I do not go by pistils. It’s trichomes and flowering time. It’s about 9 weeks when trichs are just turning amber (on the buds) for smoke and 30-60% amber at about 11 weeks for meds.

It really depends on what you’re looking for from your grow and the plant of course…

I was agreeing with you on that and answering the OP in the rest. Sorry if that wasn’t clear…

Gotcha fellow Jarhead, thought so. Appreciate the reply and your explanation and what I go by are identical. I would say great minds… but you’re probably the only one with 1 of those :joy::joy::love_you_gesture:
