I’m a beekeeper and last week we had a spell of -10F to -20F days with wind chills even colder, today it was 40F, I checked my hives and saw a few bees were peaking out to enjoy the sun and go on their quicky potty flights and get home before they cooled off as it’s still far too cold for them being cold-blooded and all.
It is for personal or business?
Do you have any recommendations for a homeowner with some open space who gardens and has a few apple trees and flower beds to improve bee habitat and protect them. We not use any form of insecticide on our apples or in the garden. I always enjoy hearing the apple trees buzzing in the spring.
Just personal, although I do sell some honey, I don’t even sell enough honey to even cover my cost. I just like playing with bees, I was always fascinated by watching people play with bees growing up that when I had the opportunity I decided to give it a try myself.
As for what you do for bees, one of the biggest things is push of mowing your lawn in the spring as long as you can, let the dandelions go wild, it’s the first food of spring for the bees after a long winter and it’s essential for them that time of year. Beyond that, year round flower growing is always a good thing, as is letting natural weeds that flower grow. Things like ragweed that people hate are like dandelions to bees, it’s one of the last foods they get in the fall to fill the hives so it’s highly beneficial to them, even if it makes the hive smell like dirty socks
It’s funny you mentioned mowing. Many of the communities around me promote No Mow May. As for dandelions and ragweed, we have an abundance of both. Thanks for the info

If been reading all the “Indoor” growers journals and entries and have been getting a little envious but happy for them though…I may even try a few Photos this season and maybe even get a clone from the dispensary ? Hmm I do like my seed ritual though but oh well we shall see…

High all,
I usually get planted late May, however lst year I already had plants growing in the ground when I checked my garden to till so I learned marijuana is a strong, feisty plant. She will grow when she wants to and how she grows is up to her too. Yes care helps tremendously. That being said…I want to try Lebanese this year. I will also have a Maui, strawberry cough, blackberry Kush and a Mystry going too. Gonna TRY to keep them under 10 foot this year lol we will see how that goes.
Happy smokin… till spring
Ger
High,
Yes it has with the exception of the Phuckin Chinese virus for Christmas and my birthday. Still haven’t been able to smoke so burn one for me!
Happy smokin,
Ger
Going to have to wait till June to keep them under ten feet, or keep pulling them down as they grow. I’m going to try something like that with the GSCX this year. Short and very wide. That’s the plan anyways, lol.
