SOS PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ::(( Brown Spots spreading like wildfire overnight

Omg so this stupid problem has plagued my entire grow experience and I’m fucking done with it it’s so annoying this stuff just shows up and then starts spreading like freaking crazy virtually overnight all over my plants leaves and I can’t ever seem to get it to stop! I give it regular Fox farm nutrients plus some cal-mag every now and then and it just persists anyways. Please if someone has anything similar happen please please let me know what you did to fix I want to never have this problem with one of my planta again, here’s some pictures

How often are you feeding?

Is your pH between 6.5 and 6.6 going in? What is the pH of the run-off?

A TDS meter may be needed to check your soil. I think you are locked out due to pH issues. Could be multiple deficiencies going on with nutrient build-up. Have you followed the FF feeding schedule?

My pH is between 6.0-6.5 going in and i’m not sure of the runoff. I feed about every two to three days with about 64 fl oz. I am not currently following the schedule I’ve been afraid to flush and try and get on it because if I have deficiency’s it might make them worse? But also I haven’t been giving it very many added nutrients at all until about a two weeks ago just never seemed like it needed them so i don’t think it would have lockout

Affected leaves will never recover. Is the new growth okay?

Without knowing how much nutes your soil has, it is challenging to know where to begin. Doing a flush will help you reset and start over knowing exactly what is going in and coming out.

Let’s see if we can get some input: @Covertgrower @patchman @Cannabian @Myfriendis410 Hope you don’t mind the tag. Trying my best to share what I have learned form all of you.

What’s your take here? Thinking pH is out of line causing other issues.

Much appreciated as I am still learning.

I agree, a flush is a good idea. I always had pH issues when using FFOF and found it had hot spots in the soil. Also, the schedule is a good guide and should be used for less experienced growers. I also think using Cal Mag every watering is a good idea until late flower.

lmao loving the profile picture family man but also thanks I am supposed to water tomorrow so I will just give it a good flush and try and get onto the FF schedule!

When in doubt, flush it out. Also, you may want to do a soil slurry test for pH. My guess is that your locked out and or not feeding enough cal mag.

What is a soil slurry test? sounds interesting

Are the brown spots all round or do you also have randomly shaped splotches showing up?

If your ph is below 6, your plant will begin to loose its ability to utilize potassium which would cause necrotic brown spots and yellowing with green veins. It would also cause your plant to stretch if that’s something you noticed. I would measure the ph of your run-off and see if it’s coming out at a value that inhibits nutrient uptake

Take some soil from the root zone, mix with some 7.0 water. Let sit for a few hours and then take pH reading

That’s the problem. This looks like a potassium excess along with a calcium def. Discontinue feeding and just plain water until you can determine what your runoff TDS is. If you don’t already it’s time you purchased a TDS meter to monitor your plants.

Using low TDS water like R/O or distilled, water to between 10 and 20% runoff. Capture the last 1/4 cup of runoff and measure the TDS: if it’s above 2,000 ppm you should not be feeding. Supplementing with cal mag though is a good idea.

Once you’ve performed this test, tag me and we’ll see where to go from there.

“I feed about every two to three days with about 64 fl oz.”

That sounds like too much water too often. I go a week between watering in FFOF. I’m in 5gal fabric pots and give 1gal once a week. Plastic pots won’t dry out as fast as fabric pots will.

Well I winded up flushing yesterday. Checked on it this morning and just about every leaf is affected now so thats super awesome. Just pulled like two handfuls of leaves that just fell right off without even having to cut them just popped them off like they were about to fall off anyways. I tested the ph of the runoff yesterday when I flushed and it was below 4, I put it in at 6.0-6.5.

My soil pH is fucked and idk what to do. I tested the runoff when i flushed yesterday and it was below 4. I put it in at around 6.0-6.5

I didn’t do a TDS test yet but i already flushed it yesterday and when I was doing it I checked the runoff pH and it was 4 or even further below than that. I put water in at a pH of 6-6.5 ever since I planted it. Is there a way I can do a TDS test without a TDS meter

The soil at the bottom of the pot is usually dry by the time I water. 64 fl is roughly 1900 ml which I don’t think is an outrageous amount of water just about a half gallon and I usually get a little bit of dripping out the bottom so I know its been completely soaked but not so much dripping it’s like i’ve given it a flush. I live in NM where it’s hot and dry like 90% of the year

Well you could take a measured sample of runoff, weigh it very precisely and then evaporate all the water out and weigh again: that would be an actual TDS. Using an EC meter approximates what is present but is not as accurate.

TDS meters are like $15 on Amazon: I would not waste any time to order one.

Low PH is common in non-cannabis optimized soils like Miracle Gro and some reports recently of low PH in FF products. Your Ocean Forest may fall in that latter category. If it were mine I’d top dress with dolomite lime per the package instructions and water in.
