Some like it hot

well my two girls outdoors are about to see their hottest days yet.
The weather is supposed to be 92-98 degrees with 7-15 mph breezes.
My question is whether or not they would be better served either:
rt where they are at now in full sunlight with the breezes or in a more shaded environment(less radiant heat exposure but less breeze also.) with a large floor fan creating airflow/breezes.
It will be day-humidity 45%- 60% and night 58%-70%…

Likely will depend on the strain. A shade cloth may be a good solution. I believe you can get it anywhere from 20 to 90% shade.

@jorkvilleyoe are they in the ground or in pots? Soil I’d say no problem, they get relief by digging deep. Pots and be questionable due to the direct sun drying them out plus heating up the pot/roots. At least if they’re in pots you can easily move them about if you see any stress.

Just keep an eye on them, if they start showing signs of stress, you may be better of moving them. I agree☝️, shade cloth will help for sure. I read somewhere that 30% shade cloth can reduce temperatures by 15 degrees, while still allowing plenty of light through, might be worth looking into. You even see some big cannabis farmers completely covering their entire crop with it.

i do apologize apparently the photos did not post. I will repost the photos.

Where can i get a shade cloth? and do you suspend it above the plants of just drape it directly on the plants?

Plants look great :+1:

You can look on Amazon for some shade cloth, here’s an example in the link. You’d want to suspend it over top the plants, not directly on them.

Well the outdoor crew is doing alright as we wait for a 30% shade cloth. And 2-11 is officially hanging in 73*\ 62% humidity.

On a lighter note and looking forward 7 seeds, 5 skywalker haze autos and 2 whiskey Zulu autos have hit the lightning warrior solo cups moistened with distilled water. All 7 beans were placed in wet paper towels on June 11th and by the morning of the twelfth the 2 whiskey zulus had sprouted their tail. I held them back one day so that I could put them all in solo cups at once on the same day. Both are Sativa dominant hybrids with very respectable THC levels and yield so it’s sativa time.
This time our children will be playing in promix hp with some added amendment, bone meal, blood meal , kelp meal( actually a liquid fox farm kelp me is what is available) liquid karma and a rew other things all mixed up into a splooge that touts being a grow requiring no additional nutrients and fertilizers. (Yeah right, by now I know the minute you quit paying attention to them they’ll club you silly.)
So anyone with experience in either the strains/ nutes/ media, or anything else is all welcome . Lay it on me good or bad, only two ways to learn by listening to others and experiences. Regardless good or bad. Ty

Nice harvest!!! I’ve grown in ProMix HP (awesome medium - as long as you are aware to feed early, since it is inert), but other then that (and the Kelp Me Kelp You from FF), I don’t have any experience with the others.

They also use Shade cloth to produce what is called Sungrown tobacco leaves. Its amazing stuff.

This is what I have planned:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soilless mix.
If you use a 3 qt. saucepan as “parts” in the amounts given above, it equals about 1 cu. ft. of soilless mix and you can just dump in a cup of powdered dolomitic lime.
What do you think?

Sounds like you know more about it than I do.

nope,i just read it today thats why the feelers re out.Im having a hard time finding some ingredients in the form they specify and often it is a liquid equivalent that has something in it counterproductive to organic growing microbes and what not.
I have another approach that doesn’t use any of this crap but the crap it does use is unattainable in time for the next grow so ive got enough stuff laying around for probably 20 more plants so over this fall possibly an overwinter indoor grow.
Do you by any chance reuse/recharge used soil medium from previous grows?

Well the second day of this heat wave sees these two outdoor plant guzzling 20-10-20 like its going out of style and spitting nails when it comes to the terpenes.Im going to run this out with 20-10-20 as per Big Bruce Bugabee.
I know normally the nitrogen gets cut substantially and the k and p get picked up but they look to damn good as they are.

I do not. And currently using FFOF.

I have used that and got into a bit of trouble feeding too much .Thats when I received a lesson in checking run off and recovering from a nitrogen surplus.

The weather here is very hot and humid with temperatures hovering around 95 -104 degrees. Should I move my little plants to more shade and/or water them more because of the heat.

Thank you. This is my first grow and I am growing durban poison.

@Atticus1962 Welcome home!! Since your plants are mobile you could certainly look for a location to avoid the hottest parts of your day. Got any spots where you can get all morning long and then a bit more in the late afternoon?

Welcome to the community

you can definitely move them if need be. Some plants are perfectly happy with these temperatures, some not so much. Best thing you can do is pay attention to the plant, it’ll let you know if it’s stressed. Watch the leaves, if they start folding in half (kinda like a taco shape :taco:) or anything that looks off, it might be better to move them. They will be drinking more water, so don’t let them dry out completely or they’ll burn up quick and die.

Example of the leaves folding from heat stress

Hi @jorkvilleyoe I re-amend and reuse my soil each grow. Hate to toss out 75+ gallons of good stuff.
