Trying out mainlining for the first time. This did not happen during the tie down. I noticed it about 2 days later so I assume it happened gradually after it was tied down. Happened to 2 plants. Never had a break yet and I’ve read if a stem snaps you can tape it but this seems to be an odd spot to tape. Should I do anything about it or will it heal itself? Thanks!
I’d put a drop of honey on it which hopefully will give it protection to close up. The worry is it will heal open and develop stem rot. Especially that close to your medium.
Thank you. Will do. Side note, raised ppm up and things seems to be going much better so far.
Advice for the future, top as high up as you can below the highest node you’re removing. They’ll develope a much smoother healed joint.
Id add a layer of electrical tape or plumbers tape over the hole after adding the honey to act as a bandage and help prevent bad things from entering the wound. She should heal up fine, as the honey will act as an antiseptic and help heal your girl. Happy growing
Thank you for the advice everyone. I will be sure to follow.
Growmies have you covered. Here is a pic of one of my mess ups. She rebounded and was healthier at the split. I split her right down the middle after topping.
The above is my field triage…
And below is what caused the damage
Those zipties are bad news. The stems wont be able to grow out and will grow around those ties. Remove them asap
They weren’t tight and only on there for a short amount of time. Been doin this for awhile but I appreciate your look and the feedback.
All good. I treat every situation the same. Might not be news to you but others reading might have an ahh ha moment. Its a bad habit on my end from years of training people and not knowing thier skill levels so everything is broke down to basics. Not nearly as bad as my other habit of assuming people know or should know what im saying and being an ass when they dont. Either way my girlfriend hates both aspects. Either thinks im talking down to her or should know she didnt know lmao.
I’m with you there Ebb. I use more than one method when training. I like to be able to rotate my plant since I don’t have a 2nd door on my tent so I quit using a net. Now I just use string and have a holes around the perimeter of my 7 gallon pot and tie them down where/when needed. I also do some things other people don’t. Like I am big on transplanting through the grow. From seed to harvest she is in 4 different sized pots. Alot of folks just germ and go into the “forever” home. And some actually drop the bean in the forever home.
I transplant-ish around 2 times for most my grows. 1st time is either moving my starter plug (rockwool or jiffy plug) to mini dwc in a 2" net pot until i get about 8" of fishbone roots, then to either a 6" or 8" net pot to finish them out in their forever home. Autos and photos. Rarely find much in the way of shock. I always presoak my media in pHd nutrients before hand so it helps reduce that and gives them instant access to food. I think the biggest issue people have with transplanting is just lack of knowledge and dry planting in new soil. We run 2 different types of growing but the basics are the same. If they never realize theyve been trasplanted they cant trip out about it lol.
