Should I stop drying and start curing?

It’s been 7 days since I hung my four autos. Each plant is intact and hanging upside. I trimmed two of them already. The other two still need to be trimmed.

The stems bent in half quite easy but only one small stem snapped off completely. Since I’ve run out of bud, I’ve actually picked a couple buds off and have begun smoking them. Early in the week I’d have to relight a joint multiple times. Lately, as long as I don’t sleep on it, I don’t have to relight any joints.

The temp has been a tad lower than desired, between 60-65. Degrees on average.
RH has been between 45-55% on average although it did drop down to the 30% range briefly and touched up around 60%+ at one point.

Should I really wait until most stems snap in half??? I’ve read that is the way to tell it’s time to cure, but I’ve also read that indicates it’s too late.

Thanks ahead of time!

Id start curing the ones you have trimmed and start trimming the others and then cure immediately after

You can Usually feel the bud And get a good idea if it’s dry. If you wait till the stems snap it’s probably going to be too dry. I’m with @Medicineman33 Good luck finishing up.

I cut them for curing when the smallest twig is dry enough to have an abrupt snap when you bend it over

Great! Thanks for the advice. They definitely feel dry, and my intuition was telling me they might be ready. I’ll have them all in Mason Jars in the next day or two

Also, in the future . consider grove bags no burping required

I like to put a mini hygrometer is the jar to check moisture. If it is high I leave the jar open longer. If dry I’ll add some leaves. I’d like something close to 60%

I did buy some of these

If I’m going to make a habit out of growing I probably will buy some of those mini hygrometers. I’ve seen them around.
So the leaves hold more moisture than the flower then? Or are you talking about a different type of leaf?

If you feel like they are already getting too dry don’t wait, get them in jars or at least a paper bag. If in jars and still to dry you can usually bring them back a touch by adding a fresh leaf or 2

You can buy a little handheld moisture meter for like 20 bucks and start curing right around 10-12 percent . Then put in Grove bags …
Or if you have it then I would highly recommend the cannatrol cool cure machine. Just throw it in there and it drys and cures it for you in less than half the time. No worry of under or over drying or mold or anything else. Then it will store up to just over 4 pounds at it’s correct moisture level for months even a year or 2

General Tools MM1E Moisture Meter, Pin Type, LED Bar Graph https://a.co/d/awCW6Jo
That’s the link for moisture meter.

Or Google " cannatrol cool cure" and you’ll find it .

That meter works like a charm.

It was suggested by another growmie in this forum. I’ve used it once in a pretest run for hang dry. Worked great. But I also have the cannatrol and I’m going to try and do all of it through it if I can.
