OK guys I have a bit of a dilemma. I am having my left shoulder removed, infected. It will be 6 to 8 weeks with antibiotic spacer. Then the replacement joint. Here is my dilemma. I want to start my next grow. I am planning on growing Trainwreck. I am thinking that the time I am laid up would be great for letting them veg. My left arm will pretty F’d for a couple of months. I am wondering if this is a good idea.
Im gonna say no. Unless you have someone who can totally take care of it for you.
You are gonna have days you feel like doing nothing and probably shouldn’t stress your surgical area at all. You just need to make it your goal to get better and then get back to growing.
IDK, I find someone keeping busy and not just laying up helps with recovery. I wouldn’t tell a man with one arm to not grow. Especially if you do have some help. I would suggest easy ,easy use some kind of soil you wont have to feed much or water much. And that will help with having to change water or drain run off every day. Set up a system were u wont have to move heavy plants and pots. One were u can shop-vac the run off. And maybe keep the grow small 1 or 2 plants. If you love it as much as I do, I think it would deffently help more than it could hurt. Anything that keeps the quality of life close to what it was before is awesome and a win win.
If you have a trusted helper I say go for it. It’ll give you something to do, and if there’s lifting, mixing, or heavy work you’ll have help.
Otherwise just wait. I know it’s tough, but imagine how crappy you’ll feel if the grow starts going south and you can’t manage to remedy it.
I messed up my knee this summer, and there was a good 4-5 weeks where I just wasn’t able to keep up with the feeding, flushing, trimming, etc. My plants suffered and I was frustrated by not being able to do what was necessary.
My wife can help me. We are both chefs and get the winters off. I just do not want to run out. I use to control pain and neurological issue
Well in that case go for it man.
Sounds like you have a need, and have help. Go for it. I wish my S.O. enjoyed the cultivation as much as she enjoys the smoking
@HearBob, hope everything goes well with your surgery. My thoughts I would go for it give you something to look forward to during your healing process . Between your wifes help and your effort I think you’ll be fine, Beats sitting on the couch. Good luck
Thanks guys I am going to see how I do after the 1st surgery there will be at least one more
@HearBob, good luck with your surgery. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have been through many surgeries myself and I know it’s a bummer but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep youself vertical and not horizontal. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery
I say go for it. Shoulders are overrated. Seriously though I just had 2 infected molars pulled and it was tough. Can’t imagine what you’re going through.
And I want winter off too, haha.
pot gods are calling on you to grow.
not running out good
“couch locked” because your grow better
Glad I did not start new plants. My surgery has tore me up. Ended up having to have my left shoulder removed because of infection. 8 to 12 weeks of IV antibiotics. If all is clear at that time I will receive a shoulder replacement.
Damn brother. I am sorry to hear that. I have had several total knee replacements along with other bionic parts added. I hope that you get better soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep on keeping on brother
Thanks. I am so glad for the support us noobs get from this forum. Because of all the support I have received I have had 2 good harvests. I averaged 4 ounces per plant so I have enough to get thru this
