Seeds disappeared once planted

So here is the situation. I germinated three seeds, used the cup then paper towel method, no issues. Since they were autos, I planted them in directly into soil. 6 days later and nothing, decided to check one pot, maybe i buried to deep. No, the seed is gone. No sign of it ever being there. I used Sohum soil, watered lightly in a circular motion around it when planted. Proper lights based on last time success with same strain. Temp has been 79-84, but as an experiment I added a heater yesterday. Brought temp up to 90 but took RH down to 44%, before that it was between 57-64. I know I have to start over, but what did I do wrong this time. The only two difference is that I used distilled water for the germination part, when the first time around I used tap water? Any feedback would be helpful.

Seeds blend in VERY well i did a gentle brush aside to check my og kush and i missed it and found it a minute later at the side of the pot , would’ve totally missed it if it wasn’t for the white tap root, it survived the ordeal and grew huge. Now if they sprouted then died the root guy turns a dingy brown blending in even more. I personally don’t recommend paper towel method , the transfer is very hard on the tap root . My highest success rate comes from a 24 hour soak in room temp water, 15% hydrogen peroxide and single drop of Zeus juice( humic acid and kelp) then i dome , 3 sprays twice a day, 5 days later if no sproutling I’ll do a gentle brush aside. Oh and i only plant 1 fingernail deep, seed sideways

Should I allow a few more days before calling it a waste?

Its been 6 days id do a gentle brush aside on all of them and i mean really gentle, go slow and keep an eye out for the tiger stripes, if you can’t even find a tap root id give up on them( i just had a bad batch of short and sweet by heavyweight seeds 5 seeds and not 1 taproot)

thanks, lucky I have my last set up seeds still. Time to order more I guess. Also the first time I was watering 60ml a day before sprouting, is that good this time around or should I just spray?

Thats to much its fine to throw .5 liter in the surrounding soil every 4 days but your soil needs to dry out so the root can breath or theyll drown spraying just by the seed ensures it stays moist but the surrounding moisture soon wicks it away

Then I am going to assumed that I drowned this batch and start on the next one.

Possibly do the brush aside 1st before you start fresh

I wouldn’t use the heating pad! My first seedlings, I used one and cooked them! The only way I can use the heating pas is if I raise my tray up half inch off of the mat so the floor of it doesn’t get too hot! This was end of February when it was cold, 50 degrees or so. 80 is fine to start them, but low 70’s is probably better.

I used distilled water with a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide for 24 hours, had a tap root at that point so no paper towels! I’ve already read that some use coffee filters instead of paper towels as the roots get caught in the towels but not the filters, so I also tried a filter covered with paper towel (holds moisture better than the filter) for some that didn’t show the tap root right away.

I also use ProMix, so I will soak some, squeeze it almost dry, then put that semi-loosely in my cups. Damp but not wet, not compacted too much so air is still available in the root area. Drop a seed in root down and brush some mix over it to bury. Works for me!

Thanks for the info

Same problem again, I planted my seeds in soil on the 28th and now I still do not see any signs of it trying to sprout from soil. Now I had no problems months ago when I did my first batch, planted four and harvested 3 but now that I am trying again, I just can’t seem to get it right. My humidity level is all over the place, as I am not sure where it should be. I have an intake and outtake fan, should they both be on. I have added a heater since having central air, it was dropping the temp in the tent. I have been spraying it through out the day, careful not to soak the soil. I am on my last seeds now, as I have wasted 6 seeds so far. Any information would be helpful and appreciated.

I wouldn’t give up yet.

I had a similiar situation and it took 17 days from dunk in water to emergence from soil.

Here it is now.

I can only hope to be so lucky

One other tidbit that I do: I premoisten the soil before putting the seeds in because the action of watering early on can dislodge and drive the seed deeper or even shallower onto the surface. I’ve had to go into rescue more than one from previous miscues.

Good luck!!!

I had an issue where i planted 5 seeds july 1st. 3 came up very quickly, 1 took an additional 4 days and the last took 4 or 5 more days. I’d ride it out a bit more.
