Seedlings going yellow in middle

Prob about 9 days old.
Northern lights.
20 seeds all the same
Little bit stretchy.
Jiffy pellets.
No nutes.
Under t8’s X 4 …3 inches away.
Temps around 33 Celcius during day in grow room. Pretty humid too.
Germinated in kitchen towel, then transplanted when legs 10-15mm.

They’ve kinda stopped growing for a few days.
Maybe they are growing roots. Maybe they are sick?
Maybe I just need to not worry, chill, and see what happens.
Anyone had yellow middles?
Damping off?
Stress?
Normal?
My two big beasts are only a few weeks from harvest. Given to me at 6 inches tall.
I haven’t grown from seeds since I was a teenager.

New growth is usually lighter and will catch up. Every morning I see yellow leaves in the center of my plants. Saw it this morning in fact.
Unless it stays permanently I wouldn’t worry.

i’ve had/seen yellow middles but never this early. often a really stark yellow in the middle is iron, but this baby is so young. iron def is often brought about by a high Ph and can happen really fast. not sure the pattern on yours fits. have you checked ph or been phing your water?

Im taking note of this…It does look unnatural.
Thanks @Agrestic

you’re right though, new growth is usually more yellow. this pattern just seems weird. but i’m not sure!

No I havent.
Might be the next step? Thanks.
That photo kinda does them too much justice. They actually look way worse.
I’ll grab another photo in a sec.
Thanks for your guidance

it’s oddly really hard to take photos of seedlings. camera never seems to focus on the plant. i’m not an expert… just spent a lot of time investigating my own new yellow growth on my last grow. i ended up having pests.

and based on sage advice given by other’s on the boards, the first few steps are usually to check the Ph of your watering and check for pests or mold. trickier on a baby.

Other than the yellow spot she looks super healthy.
Could you have had a water droplet in the center while your lights were on?
It could have damaged it a little. Never let the seedling get wet under the lights.

oh wait but are you watering at this stage? they’re so young. i’ve been wetting the soil when i first plop them in and then dome and spritz for a few weeks, no watering. so it’s kinda hard to have Ph issues at this stage of the game i think, unless maybe that initial wetting was super off. I don’t know lol. sorry. i’ll keep an eye on here and learn, too.

They all look like that.
I think…we over watered.
Jiffy thingys were too wet. Hidden by hydro medium on a automated grow table for a few days.
Only guessing but.

ok, well in that case check the ph of the water it was in. that’s about all i can guess at this moment but hopefully someone more experienced will chime in. i’ve lost a few to damping off and all i can say is that they did not get bright yellow like that. but again… limited experience.

@BobbyDigital you’ve had some Fe issues. does this look like that? thoughts on what this could be?

Yep definitely will! I’ll get a tester tomorrow
Haven’t fired up the pumps etc for ages. Prob should have ran a few lots of clean water through the pipework and resovoir before too. To clean things up.
The boys added a root growth thing to the resovoir aswell. Nothing else.
I better check if the root growth stuff is ok for little kids.
Too many Cheifs! Lol
Lots of learning this year.

I think its time to plant that in some soil.
The pellet is just for getting started. The roots are already hitting the bottom and looking for new space.
I think once you do it will be fine.
Plant it deeper and leave about 1/2 in stem showing.

I have but not that early on. Haven’t used fluorescents before but maybe they’re a little too close? @davopee, do the plants ever “pray” where their leaves are reaching for the sky?

and by tester… do you have a ph pen? if you have the funds, I’d pick up a decent one. no sense to me in risking a thousand dollar investment with a $10 pen. Apera makes a decent one for around $50, otherwise there are others that are a bit more.

Bobby, think he can try spraying some calmag on there for funsies without hurting anything?

I wouldn’t on a baby. I’d just let her grow out of it.

Thanks heaps guys.
Guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed n make sure I’m doing the best I can for them.
If a lot of them keel over ill grow two big gal’s and veg/clone like a mad man to get the numbers where I would like them.

Def checking pH though !
