I’ve grown indoors before with success and I have never had many issues. I have been away for years but love to cultivate and have a natural green thumb. I decided to crack 2 seeds while I complete setting up my grow space and the started out looking like some of the best genetics I’ve grown but a about ten days into it they’ve started to quite growing and now they’re dying off from the bottom up by leaves slowly turning yellow and on top the leaves are turning in on themselves from the edges and yellowing from the outside coming in. I used a LED shop light until they started getting deficient so I moved them under a 500 mh thinking it was the shop light but they were doing fine under it in the beginning. The mh seemed to help for a day or so but they’re back to being sick. I’ve never had problems with seedlings before and hope someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong. This is my first time using feminized seeds and I’ve purchased 2x2 grow tent with ventilation and an hlg 100w 4000 to veg ang clone in. I’m setting up my 1000w HID in grow room setting not a tent. I can’t afford an expensive LED at this time so I’m rolling with HID for flowering. It’s a digital dimmable HPS MH with air cooled hood. Please someone look at this and see if you recognize what’s going on.
They look like they have nutrient burn or are overwatered perhapsboth? Have you fed them? What kind of soil?
I’m just using a commercial grade potting soil till my good stuff is delivered in a week. I have been keeping them moist but not any more then I ever have before. I used a very mild plant food solution with a drop Superthrive twice. These plants are 3 weeks old. As you can see they’ve stopped growing. I wasn’t expecting anything special when I cracked them but I didn’t think I would run into problems either I used the same soil and light this spring when a started 10 for a friend to grow outside. They actually did quite well but I didn’t feed them like I have these. Should I keep trying to save them or is this stress going to screw them up if they do make it. I really need to know what happened to them so I don’t repeat. I already know I won’t be using the medium or nutrients again but that shouldn’t keep them from growing should it.
I used distilled water and I packed the soil a little more then I usually did but nothing that can’t drain. The top is dry but I never let the it dry more then a 1/2 inch deep. It’s still a little heavy when I water till run off. From what I’m hearing it doesn’t sound like the light and fan did it. I appreciate any and all help on this and will respond as quickly as I can to all questions and advice. I’m just an old man getting back to a hobby I love. I got the seeds and couldn’t help myself. I had to crack 2. The other one was the stronger and looks worse then the picture. The strain is Purple Chem and I have 4 more seeds. I also have 10 Tombstone. I’ll be completely set up before I start my actual first grow. The Tombstone needs sexed they are regular seeds and I’ll keep the best one for a mother if they turn out like they should. After that’s done it’s time for more seeds of a different strains. By then I should have me a LED strong enough to grow tight flowers.
Sorry for the long post. I’ll keep it shorter and to the point from now on.
You should have done a slurry test on soil, still can! Looks like they are burning up and the more water you give them the worse it will get! They are too small to water to runoff, just need a little in a circle around the plant( 3-5 " out from stem! You have PH for the runoff? A TDS meter? Need those to find out what the medium is doing!
Thanks for the info I have ph meter on order with some other things I thought I could get by without for a month. Looks like I was wrong. I’ll water as advised. Should I leave them under the HID until my LED arrives I have it set about 30” above.
@Oldguy some help please. I don’t do HID but this nice feller I summoned should be able to help! When you get PH and TDS pens you will also need calibration fluids to make sure they are right and then do a slurry of soil! The TDS pen can be cal. with distilled water!
@Holmes. Thanks for the tag brother.
@Keydup.
Is this the 500 ? If so then yes. And stay at the 30 in distance for now. Just till they start coming back around.
They should show improvement fairly soon.
Good luck.
You guys are awesome I appreciate the help! I will keep you posted. Thanks again!!!
