Sea of Green idea

So im planning a sea of green after i get these next 2 grows out of the way. I have some leftover wire shelves from my kitchen and i was gonna get some under bed storage containers with wheels and use that to put the wire shelves cut to size on top and the storage container will serve as a drip tray to catch the runoff. This idea was appealing to me as i usually use 15 inch plant saucers with stands so my pots dont sit in water but this way i can fit more plants in my tent. Im hoping for 14-20 clones so 7-10 per storage container. Heres my thoughts on this ordeal and materials ill be using. Let me know what yall think and if youd do anything differently

Looks like a good idea to me with one thought: if you’re in a tent, I’m not sure the wheels would be all that helpful? My tent has enough of a “lip” that it would not ride over it.

But I like the idea of a larger drip tray, and getting away from the saucers.

I checked my options out and i think most if not all storage containers under 10 inches tall have wheels. Either way im sure i can find use of them with or without wheels

Absolutely! I was just going on the guess you were going with the wheeled bins for mobility purposes.

How big is your tent? Thare are hydroponic trays available for probably not much more than the storage containers. Then you can just frame it up and put bucket under drain.

Using “under bed storage container” for runoff . 2x4 tent.

This is a small scale SOG - 6 clones in 2x2 frame

I have three just like this one.

This one I am just doing a single plant

Two others I have autopots in them

The frames have wheels, easy to use and flexible.

@dbrn32 tent is 4x8x6ft but i actually have 4x7x6ft space due to ac unit and dehumidifier and ill have to check out my local hydro stores then. I think thise storage container are like 10-15 at my walmart and was gonna start with 2 containers one for each side of the tent. @beardless those are awesome! Was going for the storage container size because my electric tools are all busted at the moment. Been spending too much on the tent lately and not doing projects and need to invest in a new dewalt or Milwaukee set because right now i just got my impact and drill.

tool replace is serious business. I fortunately am the beneficiary of one son’s tool affliction. He is in the trades (low voltage, alarms, wiring) so when a new lighter, longer running hand tool comes out, he is first in line.
I have come to like the single plant or smaller scrog frames. They work for me. The white trays are bakers mark 18x26x3" pizza dough proofing pans. I got them on sale at webrestaurantstore.

I am loving that rack build of yours - I may attempt similar later this year.

@beardless im gonna try to replicate your idea because its awesome and l really like the design. Could i bother you for dimensions on the whole thing and material needed? Im figuring its a 4ft tall and ill need roughly 32 ft of PVC which if i saw right you used 1 1/4 in tubes? I got a 23 inch square drip tray and i plan to use a screen or some kitchen shelves for the water to flow thru

Absolutely Glad to help and give you a list of what I used. I will put something together and get back to you.

@beardless thank you very much sir

@beardless Alright so heres the end product. Not the exact same as i built to fit my needs and drip tray but its a 28 3/4 long by 20 1/4 wide (inches) for the bottom pvc frame and the top sliding pvc frame is 23 3/4 long and 20 3/4 wide. The whole setup can extend to 50-51 inches tall. I didnt really want to make my own net so instead i bought a 2x2 net and stretched it to fit and drilled holes for the net hooks and the top corners are held down with pipe clamps. Bottom frame didnt need anything to keep the net from popping up but i really like this design because you can take it apart and put it back together easily if needed
