Hi everyone. Do any of you sample your weed. Its not quite ready to harvest but you can definitely dry out some fresh bud to see what it’s going to be like? Whats the best way to dry it out quickly. I do it in the oven at 200 degree for 30 minutes. Then after it rest for a hour its good to go. Im very happy with this LSD feminized strain from ILGM.
Though it looks really pretty once buds start stacking up, they are not really mature or “ripe” yet and cannabinoid levels such as thc will not be the same as when it’s mature and ripe so it could be disappointing at the least and possibly give you anxiety and or a headache for some people as “clear trichomes typically found” on yound bud tends to be a speedy type of buzz if anything…
Some times at harvest i will take a few buds and put them directly in front of a fan next to my dehumidifier and they are dry enough to smoke the next day alot of times. But I learned not to try it to early as I do not like the speedy buzz at all …
If a branch happens to break off. I’ll smoke it.
I don’t rush anything.
A/C on 63° humidifier on mid - low set on auto. Humidity level 60-67%
Need to open the canopy, so yes, I sample some bud.
Fully knowing it is early, but need to know.
Yes to sampling.
I dont oven or micro my buds ever. It defeats the whole purpose IMO. I cut, wash and dry per typical guidelines. 7-10 days at 60/60. Now once that is done and I am getting ready to cure it for 4-6 months, I will try a small nug to compare to the cured bud. Alot happens during the dry and cure you cannot experience on just chopped bud.

Desperate Measures
Baking buds in the oven is a horrible idea. Just don’t do it. It really is a waste of weed. Oven temperatures are far, far, far too hot for cannabis. Even on a low setting—still too hot. Sure the buds will dry out in minutes, but you’ll also have cooked off most of the cannabinoids. These buds will taste like burnt plant material and won’t get you high.
Microwave marijuana is another guaranteed disappointment. Nuking buds with 10-second blasts in the microwave is a disastrous way to dry weed. These methods likely origins are “the big book of bad ideas” and are to be avoided.
I tried the same thing and was highly disappointed. Thankfully it was a very small little bud that weighed 1/2 gram that i cut from way down low. I think it would be better to cut and smoke it fresh off the plant over drying it in the oven to test it out. But, i aint touchin’ nothin’ until they’re ready from here on out.
Whenever my plants look to be in the harvest window, I will sample a very small amount to confirm when I want to harvest. Either I air dry it for a day, or I’ll dry it in my toaster oven a short bit, it depends how long and I check it often to ensure to not over-dry or bake it, the temps I use are well below 200F, often on the Warm setting.
Pre-harvest sampling helps me very much, especially that except for rare cases, I don’t like most of my weed getting much, if any, amber trichomes, but I also want to avoid racy weed.
I’ll sample some after drying but before curing and then again a week into curing to see how its changing in aroma and taste but i dont chop a piece off the plat mid flower no
Thats so crazy. So many websites say you need to do it that way. I think i got a couple weeks, maybe 3 more at the most. Im afraid I’ll leave it to long or not long enough. I YouTube it a lot so I can see what a ready to pick bud looks like. Its soooo stressful lol.
Whats racy weed?
In the context of harvesting too early, it can cause nervousness, heart palpitations, headaches, and the like.
