Root development tips

I’ve had two grows with blue dream autoflowers and I’ve noticed both times the roots were not very developed after they were done. I’m going to start a new grow with some GDP autos and I just wanted some tips on how to get the roots to develop more. Thanks!

tell us about your grow, ie…indoors or outdoors, soil, nutes and all that.

What are you growing in?

Mycos! That made all the difference from grow 1 to 2 for me

Growing indoors with FFOF soil. I use the FF trio nutes as well and I grow them in 5 gallon fabric pots.

like @WaPNWGrower stated mykos works great, i use it when i transplant from solo cup to fabric pot. do you start off in a smaller home before transplanting into a forever home or do you start off in the forever home?

As stated, microbes can be amazing. Along with mykos, some other microbe like recharge, tribus, fishsh!t can work wonders.

Do you water to runoff and leave until dry, or do you water a little bit every day?

If you don’t saturate the soil the roots won’t develop fully.

Agreed

I agree with this too, unless early in grow. Keeping soil wet early will slow root development.

I germinate then put in forever home right off the bat. I assume the mycos have to be added prior to being planted correct?

Once they are a little older I water to runoff then water again when the pot is lite. Earlier on I’ll water them every few days with increasing amounts of water as they get older.

Feed them black strap molassus also. Myco loves it

I’ve heard that before. If I’m growing a 5 gallon fabric pot, how much should I be using? And I don’t transplant I just plant the seed right in the 5 gallon pot. Could I just mix it right into the soil before planting?

Tribus is what i use. I have roots as big as my pinkie

Watering technique is key I think. Watering in a ring away from the main stalk when early makes the roots stretch more.

That is the best method for soil grow.
Extra perlite added before planting helps keep the soil loose and creates air pockets for the roots to “breathe”. I use 3 gal fabric planters and my root ball always fills it up.

UNSULFERED, forum reading supports.

Try using some mycorizial fungi mixed in your soil and sprinkled on your transplants. I also use fertilome root enhancer on my first few feedings to boost their growth

I am for sure interested in using Mykos for the roots. I have a smaller 100w light that I want to use for the seedling stage. I wanna put them in solo cups then transplant them only problem is I haven’t done that before and don’t have an area setup for that. What are some setups you guys have for that first stage? After that I have a tent with 5 gallon pots that I’d transplant into

@Fletch422 these burpee seedling trays have silicone bottoms that help when transplanting. Ive had these for a few years now.

Germinated seedling, half inch tail, into Solo cups.
Second move into gallon jug, third move Happy Home Time, 3-5 gal cloth.
Good growing to you.
Mychos, FFOF, & FFHF
