Removing thin bottom branches on Auto flower?

I have two

57 day old Super Skunk Autos from i g l m I have a bunch of small thin branches on the bottom with real tiny flower heads.
I’m looking for opinions from Auto growers who have had an experience with these that either remove them or left them I don’t want to shock the auto, but I also don’t want to waste the energy on them.
Love to hear what you think I appreciate it Happy growing. :sunglasses:

Trimming smaller shoots is ok, it will allow nutrients to be used by main colas. Basically, you are “lollipopping”
your plant.

I prefer LST, you will still need to trim small shoots but you are in flower stage so training is too late. If you trim, do 1 or 2 a day and wait a few days between trimming.

I leave them, unless they’re touching the soil. A week or 2 before harvest, I’ll clip off the bottom ones, if they’re still nothing but whispy white pistils. If you’re doing lst/scrog, you’ll want to strategically & conservatively clip the undercarriage, as needed.

Hey @blackthumbbetty, thanks for stopping in, yea I figured it wasn’t worth the shock to her.
I only lightly LST , no scrog but have been picking off the dying and tiny ones, I think I’ve got good circulation through the plant, here’s a CPL picks or there undercarriage, what do ya think?

The bottom one could probably stand a very strategically placed snip or two. Not branches, just leaves. Maybe 1 or 2 that are really blocking the light. No more than that though. I’m a chicken with them, so I won’t be offended if you take more than I recommend.

I’d chop all them energy suckers off before you go into flower. They serve no benefit to your plant by keeping them, they just waste energy that can be better used elsewhere.

I would advise against that in an auto. If you have to prune, do it after you’re well into bloom.

Yeah I’ve done just a little light fan removal and cleared out the bottom of some of the smaller stuff.:sunglasses:

What’s wrong with pruning and auto? Other than the light schedule is there really that much of a difference?

Anything that could remotely cause any type of stress or delay, even by a day, is not good for autos. This is especially true during veg. They don’t have any spare time for recovery.

That makes a ton of sense. Thanks for the knowledge!

I have had auto flowers and kept trimming to a minimum, but did do it from time to time if it didn’t look healthy or was interfering with other growth. I had a lot of plants in a small space, though.
