Rapidstart question and more!

While waiting on my seeds to arrive, I’m reading rave reviews on GH Rapidstart so I’ve decided to order some. I’m planning on starting my seedlings in Miracle Grow seed starter and transplanting into FFOF. My question is the Drain to Waste chart says to start using it in week 2 of early growth.

When is early growth? Is this when the first true leaves appear?

It also says to use it weekly all the way to week 9. Once my plants get in the FFOF I won’t be using any nutrients for a while and I’m concerned that the Rapidstart could add heat to an already hot mix.

I don’t know anything about rapid start but I know that miracle grow is in fact MIRACLE- NO. I only use Jiffy tabs to starting my seeds and them are awesome. 100%take off!
@Countryboyjvd1971 @bob31 what do you think guys?

Yeah the MG is a no no but I’ve read the seed starter is the only one that’s ok because it doesn’t have the slow release stuff in it that the other MG soils do. The FFOF is the good stuff but I don’t wanna burn the babies.

@SilentHippie @M4ur… If the starter mix is the low NPK type, which is 0.03 of NPK, then it’s ok, I have used it to start seeds then go to ffof… If it has other fertilizers on it… It’s a miracle no for sure like @M4ur has mentioned… It’s soiless so water with ph of 5.8-6… Ask @bob31 for correct ph but pretty sure soiless is in that ph range

Just wait for Countryboyjvd1971 answer please. I personally don’t know anything about the products from US

@M4ur mg seed starter is fine to use
You can grow in mg it just the time release nutrients are the best for mj which is why most of us don’t use it
I’ve grown in it tho and you can if that’s all you have available :+1:
Never used the gh rapid start so no help there
@Zombo is on point for soilless ph 5.8-6 range
@SilentHippie I usually transplant when I have 5 set of nodes or when roots start poking out bottom of cup or starter pot which ever comes first
Auto are tricky the grow so fast

Thx for clarification on that @Countryboyjvd1971 :wink::+1:

@Zombo @M4ur
Yeah the starter is low NPK. Believe me, I’ve labored over what kind of soil to use. My guy at the Hydro store told me to just use the FF and after much reading and advice I realized that was a gamble. I was trying to keep it simple for my first run but I can never keep anything simple.

Any time buddy @M4ur
Good advice tho I try not to use the mg products
I will use their perilite
Also you can use the cactus soil they have as well with no issues
If you see that around

I recommend using RpaidStart from clone all the way until the 6th week of flower.I personally use it for clones and seedlings all the way until the 6th week of flower. It won’t add “heat” to your soil either so don’t be worried. It’s great for roots! Roots are the foundation for your plants. Hope that helps @SilentHippie

@ktreez420
Thanks so much! That’s exactly what I was looking for. One more question, how frequently do you add it? Every watering, every other?

I’m assuming every FEED not every water

I use it in hydro growing with a DWC setup, so I add it every week when I do my weekly water change. For soil I would say safe bet is every feeding, but not every watering like @Nug-bug said

I began trying it about 6 months ago from seedlings and new clones into early veg and my plants have grown like beasts. I clipped a low lying tiny branch once and just sat it in water with a few drops of Rapidstart, forgot about it, checked it two weeks later and it had thick roots like a scrub brush. I grow in soil and add it to my plants water until early to mid veg. The plants I’ve used it on so far have grown much faster and bigger. I rate it A+ I’m not a super seasoned grower; however, I’ve grown seedlings and clones without it, and now with it, and I have been pleasantly surprised with its effects. I intend to continue using on everything, including my vegetable garden plant seedlings!
