Question about trichomes in white widow

Hi
I am a new grower (2nd attempt) and have a question about trichomes and ripening. I have a white widow which (I think) is getting close to harvest time but I can’t really tell. I took pictures (hand-held microscope) on May 10 and saw many trichomes which appeared to be cloudy but none were amber. I took more pictures yesterday (May 20) and there are more cloudy ones but I was expecting it to be further along in the 10 days since the last pictures (still no amber). Anyone have any idea how long it takes for this to finish? My previous grow was from a seed of unknown origin and finished up pretty quickly (although the buds were looser and kind of fluffy, unlike this one which is super dense and crystally). I am using an indoor DWC with a 1000W output LED and a few 300W fluorescent lights along the sides to make sure the lower branches get light.

Looking good but you definitely have a ways to go. Patience!

I grew some white widow last year and am currently growing some this year. Last years crop took around 9 weeks from when I switched the lights to 12/12.

I’m am currently 7 weeks into flowering in my current white widows and mine have some cloudy but still mostly clear. I would say I have at least 2 weeks to go.

How far along are you since you flipped over to 12/12?

Also white widows like to bulk up and produce more trichomes in the last 2 weeks before harvest so patience will be your best friend.

For me, too many clear trichomes gives me a headache and too many amber trichomes lessens the buzz. We harvest when we have almost all cloudy with very few ambers.

Where are you guys getting the microscopic cams?

the 1st 2 were taken with a carson hand held usb microscope (Amazon about $50). i’ve also taken quite a few with a cheap ($8) clip on for my cell phone. the field of view is smaller but you can see them pretty well. a steady hand helps too.

this was taken yesterday (06/03/2017) - I am hoping to take it down this week. It can’t support it’s own weight and branches are bending and breaking. I have tied up many of them but I am going to have to rethink how I do this as changing the nutes is getting pretty difficult.

Just finished up a white widow. 14 weeks after I noticed first of the flowers I got 50%cloudy 50%amber. I have harvested earlier with just cloudy and it was excellent. Waiting it out gave it some more legs, flavor and aroma. When I noticed some amber showing up I switched lights to 8 hours on 16 off for 2 weeks.Another member recommend that with the WW. It worked very well really packed on thick and heavy tricromes. Just my 2 cents

You said 14 weeks is that from when you flipped your lights or when you first saw white hairs I have 2 WWp I have in flower and it was 2 1/2 weeks before I first saw white hairs
