The seed is about 30 hrs in water. Its been 60 hours now and the root is still the same size. I do have the room being heated to 75F. any insight what to do would be great. Not sure if I need more heat or just slap her in some soil.
It’s ready for soil.
I normally do a damp paper towel now . Your cable box is a excellent heat Mat. Put a dark colored towel over it ,to keep things dark. Oh btw welcome to ILGM
A post from my last grow
Hope you don’t mind if I add something? Put the wet paper towel with the seed into a ziploc or between two plates. Don’t want them to dry out or ruin furniture or electronics. Best to you.
Yes , I normally use my wife’s Tupperware prep bowls, LOL .please don’t tell her
Something like this
Thank you so much guys. I’ll put them in a moist towel and get there home ready. I did go with fox farms coco coir soil and there 3 pack liquid fert. So does the paper towel method help train the seeds root to expand further to get more water?
Take it out of the water place in paper towel dampened by the same water u got in ur cup cover seed with paper towel and put in zip lock bag until it has a good tail coming out then plant into solo cup
The other way i do it and i have a very good strike rate you need make removel pads the plain cotton ones put three pads on a plate spray with water place seed on pads place another pad on top of seed and spray with water cover plate with plastic wrap and put three small holes in plastic wrap leave it in warm dark place ur seeds will pop with in 24 hours to 30 hours no need to soak seeds in water
I had 100% germination on 4 seeds, soaking Them for 10-24 hours, then placed Them between 2 damp cottonpads. Then in a low Dark cabinet close to a heat source.
- after 24 hours all Four had an inch Long taproot
As you can see there is more than one way to sprout a seed. Find what works for you!
I forgot to say welcome to the community. We are all here to help you succeed.
After your seed sprouts you will put it in your moist medium. Sprouts don’t need much moisture. A spray bottle and a couple of spritzes of water a day. I start mine in a clear solo cup first (make sure you have drainage holes) so you can keep an eye on root development. I then place the clear solo cup in an opaque solo so the roots do not get exposed to sunlight. You can slide the clear solo out of the other cup to look for roots. Since it is a bit chilly here I put my clear solos in a styrofoam cup.
Here is my setup. The other plants are one MJ clone, herb cuttings and seeds for my window sill kitchen garden.
Found out why. Kool
Another approach is to use a clear 2-L soda bottle. Cut the bottom 1/3 off and add drainage holes. This part will be your pot. Use the top as your humidity done making sure to spritz the inside of the dome to keep the humidity up.
Careful to not over water your little seedling.
@Bud_Wizer I found out also that covering the clear solo with an opaque “shield” also prevents the growth of algae which can happen in warm moist environments.
Yes and that seedling and cup would be transplanted to a bigger pot with the algae still there. Hum
What are you waiting for? If it has a root, stick it in the dirt.
Welcome to the community @Bud_Wizer
I’m with @oldmarine you should drop in the soil
And on you next germinate add to you water some drops of peroxide
I am out of likes already there are many ways to germinate. I have only tried one. I put the seed straight into the damp paper towel. It has worked well with bag seeds. I will be doing ILGM seeds on my next grow and I plan to use the same method. I figure if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Happy Growing and welcome to the neighborhood
