Thanks so much. I’ve been reading your journal to learn as much as I can. Only questions I have (at the moment) is, is it true that I do not have to PH my tap water at all, no matter what pH my tap is? Just let water set out for at least 24 hours (chlorine). And last would be, do you think I would be okay if my soil only cooks for one week? Thanks!
I would do a check on your tap water just to make sure it’s not crazy out of wack. I can’t remember who it was but his ph was up at like 9, I wouldn’t use that my tap water is at over 500 ppm I mix in some ro water to bring it down a little so it doesn’t build up in the soil
Living soil has to much in it literally to check the runoff tds/ppm. You are not relying on salts to feed and that is what you are checking for when using synthetics
This is from TGSC
I kinda answered your question in the last post but wanted to add, not all water companies use chlorine a lot of them are now using chloramine it does vent off over night plus there’s other chemicals and solids mosley heavy metals that would be best removed. TGSC recommend an inline charcoal filter I have one of these on my back wall now I think it’s better than the others I’ve used it cost a bit more but the filters don’t need changed as often so it cheaper in the long run… the second one is the one I used to use without any issues there’s a bunch between these two with varying quality and cost
There’s test out there that say it’s not necessary to remove the chlorine/chloramine because it only kills a little bit of the living critters in the soil and they recover within a day or so.
This is my opinion I don’t know if I’m right but if I’m watering every day and killing a bunch off, as they recover I water again killing more it’s going to slow down the amount of food available for my plants
I know that you don’t have to feed. Just the top dress of base and then twice with the boost. But was wondering if you use Silica? I’ve ordered the ED along with HFOF potting soil. Was wondering what else I need to get? Oh also ordered a bag of Perlite. Thanks
On your 1st use of the ocean forest (or any other highly amended medium) only use 1-2 tablespoons base per gallon of soil, mix it throughout and cook… but then use the recommended amount on the bag for flower. Unless growing autoflowers you only feel them boost once in a grow, 30 days from planting and since you are only feeding boost once you skip the 1st boost top dress on the bag and do the 2nd top dress of 2-4 tbs/gallon of soil
That is all that is NEEDED
I add these I consider them vitamins for the plants not really food…
I use potassium silicate about every 10-15 days, I use the dry stuff from kisorganics.
I also mix in aloe vera powder on the same day as the potassium just add it last, after the potassium has dissolved completely
This is the one I use but any will work just make sure it says 200x and there’s no perfumes or other additives in it
